Or you are knowing little. Yes, bass notes are generally omnidirectional, but they are not immune to phase cancellation, which can be used intentionally.

...such as establishing optimal time alignment (via delay assignment) amongst various enclosures such as mains & subs. I can certainly understand how the same technique can be used to create a sonic null / void minimizing sub-stage boom.

For raised stages, the cure for this is to point one centered sub back under the stage and put it 180° out of phase. Seriously.

I thought you were talking of a centre cluster of subs, "pointing" and rewiring a single one. Sorry about that. If your stage is outdoors and huge I can see how it would work towards creating a perfect nulling right by it if it was one or more full wavelengths from the stacks. Great for the drummer and drum mics to lose some 80hz and thereabouts but not so much for the bass player standing more or less by the main stack. Far from a magic bullet.
