Fame doesn't give you the right be a jerk to others. You might feel that way, but that doesn't make it true. Plus he doesn't support the use of metronomes!
Hahaha! Totally.

It's too bad that Jeff got banned for #1 when everyone guilty of #1 towards him got a pass. Here as in other forums opinionated pros like Jeff and Carol Kaye were driven away by yahoos who baited them. Our loss.
I saw Jeff give a clinic once. He was a nice guy and his opinions didn't get in the way of his teaching. In about an hour he talked about enough stuff to keep me busy for the last 25 years.
A Lot of winners like to BAIT the pros on TB then whine about it.. Then the pro gets banned... . I have spoken with a quite a few of the top dogs at while at NAMM and they have said ( PARAPHRASE BY EACH OF THEM ) why would they want to put themselves thru that and be a target?
So that is why many don't participate
I remember hearing that he refused to hire any bassist who played fingerstyle. If that doesn't get you banned from Talkbass, nothing willYngwie did a spread in Guitar World about a decade ago. The poster for the month was him sitting in a room in his house with a stack of guitars behind him. I mean a literal stack, guitars were leaning on guitars.
He had one bass, a Fender in his CS yellow-ish colour. I always thought it spoke volumes about the quality of that bass. In retrospect, it may have been his disdain for bass in general.

To bad he is not able to be here to defend himself on this one..![]()
Well, it wasn't really anger. Perhaps I was a bit annoyed?Angry? Why? I would think it would encourage others to find their own individual musical voices and personality. Nothing wrong with that.

being a 'nobody' doesnt make your opinion or insight invalid, especially when you consider 'professional distortion' , of which Jeff Berlin is a shining example. I'd be willing to argue with any 'legend' ,especially one who's not at the top of my list....I am guessing it probably devolved into "what's it worth?" or a thinly veiled disguise as a F/S thread, probably the latter.
As far as Jeff goes, a bunch of nobodies would tell a world class player and educator he is wrong and then explain their methods (which nobody was paying thousands of dollars to learn.). For whatever reason, Jeff felt the need to engage these people in the worst way. Not really the sign of a professional (or an adult.)

>>But their driver BLUEWINE was wearing a shirtless T....One of these days, I need to write a stageplay about Jeff Berlin and Jaco Pastorius both going to get a new bass from Ken Smith.
He overreacted for sure but he is a bit nutty obviously. Getting baited by anonymous know it alls didn't help. I would take a lesson from him anytime.... but he's not someone I would sit down and have a beer with!
At least Bill Fitzmaurice just left. As an obvious cabinet/sound genius, he got sick of arguing with people that had no clue what they were talking about. Classy way to go. I think he said something like 'you guys are nuts, I'm outta here!"
Yngwie had a Rickenbacker 4001, that is the bass he used on the first few albums that he played bass on.
Are you sure? I've never heard that. (Not saying you're wrong.)
