Thanks for all the interest, messages, and support folks. I'm already maximally caffeinated, but everyone's enthusiam for this is what keeps me going. I should have the new case this week so I'll start re-building it this weekend. Hopefully I will get a chance to wire in the new power transformer before then to evaluate it. Wish I could sit and solder here at work, but I think people would notice....

You could get away with it. Who ever hassles a man wielding a soldering iron?

Got the new chassis in - 12x12x4 just looks so much better. Confirmed toroidal tranny will fit so we should get even lower noise and higher available supply voltage so I may bump it up another notch which will translate into more punch and headroom. Also thinking about doing some diamond plate armor on top and sides - front handles will protect knobs and I'm working on the rear panel so nobody will have to worry about anything getting sheared off during transport. It's all coming together. New layout is going to be super clean and totally robust. I'm excited. Ok, time to change the litter box and take out the trash. Then make dinner. And bake brownies for the work picnic. Then I'll try to wire in the new transformer into the proto.

What kind of brownies?

Dark chocolate raspberry espresso. Among other things, I've changed the egg ratio so they sit between cake and fudge which allows me to supersaturate the mix with additional chocolate and other goodies. These have dark chocolate covered berries, additional chocolate, and raspberry filling mixed in. Sub water with pure fresh espresso plus an extra dash of micro ground instant coffee and we end up in a happy place.
