Jimmy's fault... (Ampeg content)

If I were you (which I am not of course) I would keep the SVT7, the 410, 210AV (and the 212AV), buy the PF350 and sell the rest.
IMO, the PF350/210AV will work perfectly as homepractice, rehearsal and small gigs.
The SVT7 with either the 410 or the 212 for the larger gigs (or louder rehearsals ;))

The rest would be obsolete in my opinion.

I finally got an old B-100R.

That's the best combo I've ever heard.
It has the same Ampeg tone that we love. The "grain", texture of the tone is awesome. It's quite loud and goes deep.
There is a nice tubey compression when you push the gain.
And it looks good!

I used my Ampeg PF-500 for the first time on Friday and got nothing but compliments on my sound. It sounded a little brittle when I was only playing, and I've been really used to that flat sterile Eden sound, but once we started playing it just sounded so good with that SWR 4x10 cab and the Jazz bass. I had that snappy snarly bite and it just cut right through the mix on the top end, but also has a nice deep thump on the bottom too.

I only post this here because when I needed to replace the Eden I wanted an affordable Ampeg since I like my 350 but it was just too small for what I needed, and knew there had been problems with the 500...but I remembered a recent Jimmy post recently saying that they had worked all that out and everything was cool. :bassist: You better be right....

The brittleness gets lessened if you pump the gain up to where it starts to slightly distort or just before. SS Ampegs love gain. As for your last sentence...hey, even the most well-made gear in the world can break, but complaints on here are way down from what they once were. At any rate, looking at your picture, I'm pretty glad we live on opposite sides of the continent because I think my only option would be to run away, and I'm not very fast :D

Yeah, I noticed that. I had the gain set at a point where the girly-light would have been going off on the Eden  Boosted the bass a little and it sounded good. I was mic'd instead of doing DI for whatever reason, but it still sounds good.

When I listened to my recording of the show I noticed I had good presence on my g string (hey-stop the laughing!) where in my last couple recordings with the Eden I had almost no g string coming out of my rig. I don't know what the reason is on the Eden, and why it's starting to sound wimpy.

I noticed that I hear my G and D strings better with my svt7 and b100r th han with my Aggie.

I am considering buying a valve head.
Used SVT-CL or VR or V4B?
I own a 210AV a 212AV and a 410HLF.
I'm worrying about the SVT weight and incredible loudness and on the other hand I'm worrying about the V4 lack of power.
What would you do ?
