Jimmy's fault... (Ampeg content)

When I was a kid every drummer I knew either owned Ludwigs, or wanted to own Ludwigs. I caught the Slingerland bug. Since then I've owned every brand you name except Ludwigs, that is until last week.

After forty years of playing in bands I finally bought a set of Ludwigs, but I'll likely flip them. I like them, but I prefer Slingerland, Gretsch, Rogers...

And my DW kit is pretty amazing in it's own right.

I've been playing through and loving the SVT for a couple of weeks now. Playing it in my rehearsal room is like driving a ridiculously powerful car in a short driveway, I have yet to get it out of second gear.

Seriously, it's a freaking monster.

Last night one of the bands that I play in rehearsed, our bassist put it through it's paces and had an ear to ear grin the whole time. I have an outdoor gig this coming Sunday on drums. I will be playing bass on three songs. I'm soooo tempted to bring it along just to get to really open it up. Instead, I'll be playing through a friend and band mate's new PF810/PF210 rig. It would be sort of silly to drag mine along just to get to hear it outside. I'll wait until I have an outside gig as a BASSIST later in the summer. I should have the 810E by then.

I'm digging the 2X12 cabinet. I must have had my head down for a long time. Didn't know Ampeg was making a 2X12 cabinet. I've been wanting a decent smaller cab from my SVT. I run it through and old 2X15 now. (which sounds great on its own) but I like the look of that half stack. Gonna try to find one I think...

Jimmy is a bad influence.

Great amp. It is a classic and will never go out of style. I have one and will never get rid of it.

My guess is that it was similar to the smile my son got when he first played his SVT-CL through two SVT-810 cabinets:

Would now be a bad time to mention that I haven't used my HSVT on a gig in 3 months, and mostly I've been using my BA112 v2? ;)

I am a very bad tube snob. Did use my V4B on my gig earlier tonight, though. But my gig Friday afternoon is outside and rain is almost guaranteed, so back to the BA. The good part about that is I usually end up beating even the horn players out of there. That part rocks.

Yes, it was VERY much like that!

By the way, the friend who recently bought the PF800/PF210 did so after using my SVT 3 Pro/SVT 212 AV rig for a few outdoor shows. He blames me now for being addicted to the Ampeg sound. (We all know that indirectly it IS Jimmy's fault.)

I would bring my new SVT Classic/SVT 212 AV, but this will be his first chance to run his Portaflex rig outside and he is excited to see what it will do. Oh, and it's supposed to rain here on Sunday too. :D

We have PA support, I'm sure that the Portaflex will be great. Because of the rain I'm debating what drum kit to take. I intended on using my DWs, but with the weather it is likely to be a Slingerland day.
