And all done with just 4 strings!
Entwistle's chops only got better over the years...IMO, that is very, very rare amongst the '60s Rock guys.
...Out of your brain on the 5:15?
EDIT: I actually like John Paul Jones' progression over the years. I was listening to "Ozone baby" earlier, love the sound/playing.
Well, in return, his tone got worse... :/
Tbh the best "bass" album the Who put out, was It's Hard.
So intense, and he's all over the place.
Quad kicks all over the place! But any 'Oo will do. Also check out his solo stuff with "Ox".
Also that's him and Moonie on Beck's Bolero
im not only giving some props to john's bass playing, but i'm also wondersing what gear or effects, whatever, he uses to get his "sound". for example, in "my generation" his bass has a great vintage sound, its kind of hard to explain, but i'd love to have it for my own to mess around with. if anybody knows what that sound is and how to get it, let me know. thanks.
Here ya go. All you ever want to know...... Cool site.
Check your liner notes again.
That's Jones on bass.
