JP Basses

what the heck is going on? this is like the 4th JP scam thread i've seen in like 3 hours.
Really, i'm not scamming anybody. This is exactly what i suspected would happen when i started this thread.
i don't know anything about JP basses, except that they are few. Maybe the person who raffeled the bass at his company bought a counterfeit, and not being ableto resell it gave it away. Supposedly there is a card in the case with
the model "plume" and serial #'s which I will have also.

When the guy told me that it's a JP bass I told him myself
that it's IMPOSSILBLE! So have a fun on my account and as soon as i get the pictures of him and methe bass togther

There's something awfully screwy going on around here.:scowl:

Not really.

Clavefa's "friend" wants cash.
A fraudulent ebay listing seems the quickest way to achieve aim.
Clavefa's "friend" picks an expensive bass from TalkBass, copies photos into auction, not realising there's only one of them in the world.
Said auction is spotted by TalkBass participants.
Clavefa's "friend" gets questions from "potential bidders".
Clavefa's "friend" cannot answer said questions, so gets Clavefa to ask on talk bass.
Clavefa's "friend" is busted.

I'd love to see how this all turns out but unfortunately I'm due back on planet earth.:smug:

A big "Good luck in prison" to all parties involved with the alleged Plume Fretless 7 giveaway and my sympathies to the actual owner of the real bass.

Also let me just state that He's not trying to sell it .
He mentioned it to me because I'm a bass player.
and assumed i would know about these insturments.
so if anyones getting scammed here it's the person that won the bass .

LOL!

So the day a fraudelent listing for a JP 7 string fretless appears on ebay, your "friend" casually mentions he has one and wants to know what sort of wood it is? Your "friend" is going to the big house.

I don't who friends are but I'm very particular about my "friends" . And if my friend is trying to use me as to try to scam other people they'll be hell to pay.
So if you see it on ebay let me know.

My co-workers dad won a JP Bass Plume 7 string fretless
in a raffle at his job (***!?). He works in a steel plant.
Any way neither my friend or his dad play bass.:hiding:
I'm trying to get more info as to what kind of wood and
options.
He told me it has a "lot of knobs" lol. I'm very interested in taking a first hand look. I'll have more info tomorrow.:ninja:

There was a E-bay scam going on where some one was attempting to scam someone into thinking that they will be bidding on a Bass that is as we speak being sold by a fellow TB member(the Bass is in France)the seller on E-bay said that the Bass is in Chicago.the E-bay scam post is no longer up because fellow TBer's reported it to E-Bay,there really is something strange going on with this entire JP Plume fretless 7.clavefa would you mind having your friend give you more information on the Bass that his Dad won?and there is a great possibility that the E-bay scammer has been floating around on talk Bass.

check this out(remember the link to E-bay is no longer valid).

clavefa,
Last I saw from you, you were going to get more info from your friend and pictures of whatever he says he has. Where's that information?

Obviously, if we are to accept that he's an honest person, he's at least seriously mistaken about what he has, so at this point, it would be interesting to know what he does have... if anything...

Where's the listing . Is it the item in Chicago?

Hey Oz,the link is no longer up,either E-bay or the scammer took it down.the seller mentioned that the Bass is in Chicago.Your friend sounds like he may very well been connected to this E-bay item and if he's a friend of yours you should have a talk with him again see if he's still willing to let you check the bass out and if so that will tell you a lot.

but remember everyone, the E-bay scammer has his eyes on the TB forums so there's a very good chance that we are dealing with a very violent offender :):)
