JP Basses

Hey Oz,the link is no longer up,either E-bay or the scammer took it down.the seller mentioned that the Bass is in Chicago. You friend sounds like he may very well been connected to this E-bay item and if he's a friend of yours you should have a talk with him again see if he's still willing to let you check the bass out and if so that will tell you a lot.

but remember everyone, the E-bay scammer has his eyes on the TB forums so there's a very good chance that we are dealing with a very violent offender :):)
Hey Jauqo. Whew! I work with this guy. And I told him I want to see it. I'm still trying to get fact. We're at work right so I can't get any pics. But if it's really him trying to run this scam He won't get away with it. I mean think about a real idiot would try to scam on e-bay and not get away with it, and then try to use me as a go between on this forum .
I feel the same way I HAVE NOT SEEN IT! I DON"T THINK IT"S A REAL JP.
I thought HIS STORY would defnately be an entertainig thread.
If he had ulterior motives I know now.

I would strongly urge you to stick to this, because, even tho he's a coworker, if he's really doing all this scamming, he needs to pay the price.

On the other hand, if he's just a fool not knowing what he does have, just advise him to be MUCH more careful next time about describing what he's trying to sell.

Good luck, and I hope we find a fool instead of a criminal, but I'm still curious which at this point.

Right On Vic. I'm super curious and I WILL Follow through on this as I don't want my rep on this forum messed up.

clavefa,
does your friend play any type of instrument? and with JP Basses being somewhat rare(in the US)how was it possible for his Dad to win such a Bass?I hate to say it but by your friend bringing up such a rare Bass in the states he's connected to the scam(maybe not the scammer but definately connected).

No he's not a muscian. And when he mentioned the model to me i drew a blank, never heard of JP. When I looked it up and told him that they're RARE. Made in France .....
I really hope he's not connected and that it's a JB PLAYER.
So know i opened up a can worms, but i'll deal with it.
I won't be played.

I don't think there's much chance of this being true- he said he won a seven-string fretless bass from a raffle at a steel mill. I don't see a snowball's chance in hell of that even being remotely close to the truth. Most people don't even know what a fretless bass is, let alone a six or seven string one, so the odds of one being put as a raffle prize at a steel mill are, um, nil.

I'm just trying not to condemn until I hear more. I've been more sure than this before and still burned for it.

My thoughts when i heard it too. I just did not know about an e-bay posting until i posted this thread and know i think that some one is "BUSTED".
