Congrats! Crystal is from Oak Harbor, Ohio, which is about 10 minutes from where I live (though I did not know her, personally). Lots of love and goodwill for her in this neck of the woods, though! I certainly thought she was the most talented of the contestants that year.

thanks Tom! She is def from your neck of the woods and loves her home town. She's been living in Portland for a bit now, though....

Crystal has been to my house, although I doubt she'd remember me. She was in a group that dropped by after an open mic soon after Idol. Very sweet lady and very talented. Congrats on the gig!

thanks man....you never know! crystal is SUPER down to Earth. unless she was wasted, she would def remember! haha

Liam

Ha small world! Im am currently playing with American Idol finalist Elise Testone - I'll be out there with the Monique/Minnie setup also. Jule it seems you are well represented on the Idol front!:D

Ha look at that! congrats bro....I wonder if our tours will cross paths at some point!

Edit: I just checked her tour schedule and I see she's keeping it local right now. Unfortunately, we won't be hitting the south east until January. Oct is all midwest with a random show in Atlanta at the end, and then Dec is a whole west coast run. Southeast is January! But I'm sure Elise will be hitting different areas by then....

Me neither;) One man's 'mid congestion' is another man's 'nice, warm, mid character'. One man's 'smooth and balanced' is another man's 'clinical and scooped'! That's why they make all this stuff, and of course, different technique and cabs can change EVERYTHING in the mix and match!

Sum of components is the key for me. I have a Mesa PH412 and a Mesa 215 loaded with Fatials. The 4/12 sounds totally different than the 215 with Monique. They are both 4ohm and I try to run them both in parallel thru my DCM2000 because together the they sound awesome. When I have to choose one I go with the 215. The 412 tends to break up at a lower volume and sharing the power with the 215 gives it a different voice. The TH500 is a pretty mid forward amp, but paired with a Dully sounds really good to me. But, that is the only cab I have heard that amp sound good with, just my take on it. So, everyone is different and different cabs a basses yield different results. Like different ways to run Monique produces different results. Driving her into the power amp and using the power amp to control output siginal will give you a different feel than cranking the power amp and controlling the output level with Monique.

+1 I am looking forward to placing my order for a De-Monique if I have that name right... the 'all in one desktop' sort of configuration. I love trying all this stuff, and Jules seems to be one of those guys you enjoy giving your money to.:hyper:

Again, sorry for the Aguilar OT..... again, Nostatic and I recently discussed the 350 as a possible backup that had a bit more 'character and warmth' than the Puma. Sounds like 'too much character and warmth' for him:D

Yea the first album is dropping at the beginning of the year so the touring will begin just after that - would be sweet to cross paths (wouldnt have to worry about amp choice!!!)

To quote Derek St. Hubbins, "too much ****ing perspective" :D

Yeah, I had forgotten the input gain issues I had previously. My YYD is very hot and with the Aguilar it required -10db *and* gain around 9:00. The problem is then the tone kinda gets sucked out of things.

Otoh, I can hammer Monique with no issues (I can run the sensitivity anywhere and it sounds great), and likewise the Puma takes it fine (just run the gain around 10-11:00).

Different strokes. I can get close to the TH sound with the Puma by using the taste knob. I can't get close to the feel of Monique with any other amp I've played.

WOW, that is hot. With my moderately hot Nordy P, I run the gain at about 11 o'clock, with no pad, and never hit the clip, nor hear any break-up, other than a bit of warmth that I like. That is unbelievably hot. Something almost seems not quite right there. Even with the bass and lower mids boosted on my Roscoe, zero issue.

I can, of course, get the 'overall preamp clip' to come on with the 350 at 8ohms, but that doesn't really have anything to do with overloading the first gain stage (strange design of the indicator light(.

Anyway, return policies are a good thing!:bassist:

yeah I've been using my Monique/Minnie setup for a while now. haven't thought of buying another amp since. I use it mainly with an Epifani S1 UL-410 and I run my Fodera totally passive. Or my passive Alleva KBP5 w/ flats. tone heaven as well.

You actually cost me a lot of money. I remember a clip from you on your A-C P Bass a while back that was part of getting me interested in the P again after literally 30 years (I'm not kidding) of not playing one on a gig (along with doing a gig on a rental banger Fender P on a Cancun gig I did a while ago). And now, I have a Monique Tardis De-Monique on the way.

Returning the favor:D, you need to check out the Bergantino CN212 (as a former S1 and S2 410UL user):D

Congrats on the new gig by the way!

I don't have the Minnie, but I missed Monique so much when playing last minute gigs and not being able to access my Monique from a studio or rehersal space that I bought a second one.

I haven't even tried a different amp in over a year.

My Fodera is very hot, my vintage Fenders are not... And Monique sounds great with both. Monique also takes effects very well IME. Best amp purchase(s) I have ever made.
