Why would the class of power amp have anything to do with anything? This is yet another example of the overwhelming impact of the preamp on the tone of a bass rig. Power is, for the most part, power
For me the Class D power amps, Earlier versions always seemed to change tonally and break up or get weak in the lower frequency ranges. I didn't hear any of this with the Monique and it would probably be the same with just about any power amp but I was surprised at the overall fullness the combo got. I have had several class D power amps and they all had the same issue. I have been reading that many class D power amps have gotten better with handling the low end and not loosing wattage at the low extreme so this may now be a non issue. Thats all I was saying, I was surprised how good the combo sounded together. I am sure there are other D class amps or what ever class amps that are going to sound really good together but this was the Tardis which already has the power amp built in. I thought it was a well paired combo, thats all.
+1 Class D and actually more so SMPS has come a LONG way in the last 5-6 years. The DeMonique seems to be quite a package, which is why mine will arrive in early December

Thanks, although I've never been to NY. Bought gear from them though, and their site is clear with a good indication of street price. I got mine at my local camera store here in Melbourne.
Received my new Monique Rack Mount Version this weekend and hooked her up to a new Crest Audio Pro-LITE 2.0. Once I swapped out the patch cable with a TRS to XLR to eliminate a hum the Crest was creating, I was off to the races. This pre sound particularly amazing with my passive Nash Jazz. It also feels right and I get to try her out in a full band situation on Wednesday for rehearsal. I have a show a week from Saturday and can't wait!

Hilarious! Well at least she knows that Monique relates to your bass pre. My wife over heard me talking to my guitar player on the phone about Monique saying how I loved her. Needless to say when I hung up the phone I had some explaining to do!
Lots of luck! I gig with Monique / Crest prolite occasionally. It is a killer setup. You will not be disappointed!

I am awaiting the arrival of Bamboo Monique in a couple weeks and I'm sure the member waiting on my rack is excited as well.

Nice! I believe my new Tardis is on its way to James to be De-Monique'd. A couple/few weeks at James' shop, a trip back to Jule for final checkup and tweaking, and then hopefully to me sometime in early December!
James is cooking right along. Still seems to be about two weeks.

Congrats on the new rig! That is the setup I have, and I love it. Been using it since mid-August.
I'm curious about your cable issue. I am using a TRS-TRS cable from the Monique to the Crest and it is dead quiet.
Did you determine what was causing the hum?

I am also curious about your cable choice. Are you using the xlr end on Monique or the Crest?
Has anybody A/B a Monique with a Dave Hall DHA VT1/2 tube pedal/preamp.
I'm going from memory, but the DHA wasn't as lush in the mids, and didn't have that power amp sound. It's boost was a pretty focused sound, esp for live use.

I used to have a VT1-MK3-Bass. It was OK but I sold it at the time, preferring an SIB Fatdrive,which provided thicker tone. I didn't like the boost of the VT1 at all, but my music at the time didn't call for a boost so I may have been biased.
Monique is definitely more lush in the mids than either. Those other 2 pedals aren't even in the same class.
That's what I thought. I haven't played my DHA VT2 for over 12 months. It's officially gonna be sold to fund the Monique. Thanks!Ukiah Bass said:
