Jule Amps Monique part 5

So my Monique rack pre is not always powering on, the switch is behaving intermittently. Usually powers up with one flick, but on occasion requires two or more cycles. Does this sound like an easy repair? Something a scrub can do by their self?
Pretty easy to change. Make sure NO POWER CORD IS ATTACHED before you do anything. Most hardware stores and all electrical parts stores have a replacement DPST toggle switch. Here is a link to one on line: Invalid Link Removed

Thanks guys

It sounds like his might be an option for me and I'd sure love to cut down on weight/size.

Jules - as a thought about a 1400w Monique, could it be two 700w power amp that have the potential to be bridged by flicking a switch? This way you'd maximise the number of cabs you could use. Enough power when you need it but the possibility to dial it back when you don't want to blow up a lower rated cab.

Cheers guys and Monique!

Ben
Yes. Incremental steps do seem most effective. Maybe 700:1400:2500? Will know soon. Bits and wires and wafts of smoke will in their own time coalesce into something that makes music.

From "Young Frankenstein - 1974"
Dr Frederick Frankenstein: That music. . .
Frau Blücher: Yes. It's in your blood - it's in the blood of ALL Frankensteins. It reaches the soul when words are useless. Your grandfather used to play it to the creature HE vas making.

Long time lurker here..Seems to me the alert system of TB doesn't work consistently, as I keep missing posts in this awesome thread?
Also, I'm decloaking right now to blame all of you in this thread and Jule for making me buy a Monique and M700 last year.

I couldn't be happier.

I'm currently using Monique/M700 into either 2x S12D or 1x S15L-D. Anyone else here using Bag End cabs with Moni? Wondering about buying an additional S15D to throw into the mix. I'd appreciate your comments.

Also, for home recording with this setup..any recommendations for an interface? Focusrite 2i4 ok?

Cheers.
I have a Focusrite 2i4 and it seems to work pretty well -- I A/Bed it with a Roland Quad Capture and, while the Roland has some more features, the recordings made with the Focusrite sounded just a bit more natural and detailed. Both sound better and cleaner than recording via the XLR inputs of a Zoom H4N. Knocks on the 2i4 -- for me, only two: metering could be more detailed than the green/orange/red LEDs it has and it seems to me that headroom on the 2i4's preamps is decent but not astounding -- I say "seems" because I don't have a ton of experience in this area, but check the specs relative to some other interfaces. I've fed it a healthy signal from Monique, though, without issues.

I had some some discussion with agedhorse, in a thread I put up awhile back, about recording at mic vs. line level with the 2i4 and my Genz GBE 1200. (Unscientific Guess-the-Preamp Comparo: Demeter, Monique, Genz (with others later).) Scroll down a bit and you'll see specs for the interface and some clips. There are clips, throughout the thread, of a few different amps and pres and most were made with the 2i4.

In its price range, I think it's pretty good. Roland's not a bad option, either.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was lucky to find a good deal on a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 locally and went for that one. Went for firewire as I have an older Mac. Thanks again.

A yummy combo indeed!

I am enamored! Nice, tight phat low end. And a wonderful flat mid response all the way up the frequency range.

I used it in an open mic on Thursday night, and it killed! Just busted through 2-3 guitars and loud drummers. Everyone raved about it. Of course, no doubt it didn't hurt that I was using an incredible head with it.

I can't wait to get a second one. Because I need more volume? No. Because one doesn't do enough? No.

Because of that wonderful interplay in dispersion ansd reinforcement you get with two.

2>>>>1. Always!;)

Maybe a silly question but I will ask anyway. I use my Reddi on a regular basis and have just acquired a dovecage in the classifieds. I'm hoping it is a replacement but does anyone find they have a use for both?

You may find they're different tools, but then...may be happy with just one. Maybe it would be more prescient to ask will others make demands such that you'll need both.

Received my Monique 700 today! I'm loving it so far. It's the first amp with a solid state power section that I'm happy with. Can't wait to use it at practice later this week. Thank you Jule for the great customer service also.

There is nothing like the Monique 700. Hands down the best bass amp I've ever owned.

Game...Set....Match!

And yes, Jule is wonderful to work with. His Customer service is tops!
