I always make sure that I have both the Line Level pulled out and zeroed along with the Sensitivity knob pulled out before I power up Monique. Then I'll power up the amp and gently bring up the Line Level on Mo for a sound check.

I have some experience. I found that the HPF3 in between Monique and power amp is workable, but there's some things of note...first off, I ended up with some kind of volume/signal boost from it. I would think there's something going on with impedances between devices. This wasn't a good or bad thing. Just a thing.

Also, you CAN hit the headroom limit on the HPF3. If you're like me and you've got a pile of gain stages, that can be something you have to work through. are you hitting the front end of the Monique too hard, are you hitting the HPF too hard, are you hitting the power amp too hard?

I ended up moving to an amp with DSP and onboard HPF for a while then ended up dropping it on my board out front of the Monique to clean up some stuff that was going to FOH. When I moved to the M2500 the HPF3 stayed on my board as the last box before my Monique. This is where it resides today.

^ I'd agree with this being a safe and solid move. Originally I ran it in between amp/preamp to control the lows on my stage rig while giving the FOH as much low as I could for whatever they want. But the reality is that most qualified sound engineers are going to HPF you in the FOH in a very similar spot. In just about 100 shows in 2017 and plenty in previous years I've found this to be the rule rather than the exception.

Just out of interest and apologies if I’ve missed it. Any maaaive differences with the Broughton or any HPF/LPF last thing in the signal chain before hitting my Tardis700? I have it as first in the chain but with a pedal board reshuffle on the cards hopefully quite soon I may Ale some changes. As I use a Basswitch I route my effects via the two loops, comp in one, drive in the other mix loop.

I have used the HPF3 with Monique. Is there a particular problem you are trying to fix? Which rack eq are you using? Maybe you will be doubling up and have an extra stage you don't need?

I don’t know what brand strings, they were on it when i bought the bass.
The Monique really adds something you really miss without it.
The eq is fantastic. In combi with that 15’ speaker, without tweeter, warm, fat, thick.

Too late ;)

fdeck hpf purchased and in my chain :)

Just using it to tighten up lows. Is it needed? Not strictly, no. I have two stages of hpf in my dirty chain. But this tightens it up even more, which allows for a bigger bump in the lows, which is helps offset the very biting, high mid content of my dirt channel, which is part of my sound, and playing tone that I appreciate helps me in the creation process, etc., yada yada yada

Truth is, they all are. Primary signal path is still the same. Just more.

Question for ya....

Not sure if this was ever requested but is it possible to add on rack ears to the Monique 700 Tardis? I have found there have been a few times where I would have liked to have my Tardis in a rack.

As far as I know, the Tardis is a lighter weight case, not meant to deal with the stresses of being suspended in a rack.
