Jule Amps Monique part 5

On my Puma everything at noon is pretty close for upright. On the Monique I wound up with the bass up almost all of the way and the mids almost off.

It sounded AWSESOME. I think I still need a parametric to do a bit more shaping but man did it sound great. Tremendous roundness and weight to the notes but also speed and separation of the notes.

Thank you for giving her a run Upright. Pretty cool usually. Lots of "girth" to the notes.

An Orchestral player named "Colin" came by my shop a while back needing some minor on-the-road maintenance. He was on the way to a new position in Vancouver. We traded. He showed me what that bow can really do. Very fun.

There are also a couple of Oud players I'm trying to connect up with. Dynamics should be appropriate. There is much beautiful music to be made.

Game over. Best sound I've ever gotten. It retains its immediacy while still giving a round, fat tone. The envelope is perfect. Perfect balance of bloom, buoyancy, and control. Often times if I want that warm "bloom" to the sound it's at the expense of control. Not here. Seems tailor made for my speakers.

I'm trying Pete Skjold's new 33" (WOW) into the Monique and into one of my 46's.

If state of the art never moves past this point I'll still be a happy camper for the rest of my life!

Is it bad news to run a Moog synth through a Monique/Minnie setup at very modest volumes? I'm getting a Moog Synth for recording, and I'd like to work out and practice synth parts using my bass rig before I DI the synth into my computer, just for sound quality and ease of use purposes.

I won't ever be using it live at gig volumes through the Jule/Minnie, so I'm more just wondering whether it would be ok to do at reasonable practice volumes.

Sounds like good news to me. I can't see how your Monique/Minnie setup could take harm of using it with a Moog synth. It will probably sound very good. I have used my Moog Taurus III many times with my Monique/Minnie /Barefaced rig, and it sounds fantastic!

On my gig I play synth bass as well as regular bass. I use a Korg R3. I've never had a problem running it through Monique, Minnie setup.

I have ran a synth, guitars and a mandolin thru Monique/Minnie and my Bergs. No issues at all but these are rare occurrences.

I am of the opinion that a hot active bass is the most likely instrument to blow up a bass amp, so things like guitars and synths shouldn't be an issue. If I am wrong, I have been lucky for almost 30 years of doing this.:hiding:

Empress or WMD eq would probably fix that. Back when I played upright I always had to have something in-between to tweak the eq. With the RA Deep 4 and Fodera it is simple - Fodera, bass goes to 3:00, RA bass goes to 9:00. Treble and Mid typically flat depending on the room.

Yeah, the Empress Para-EQ does a very nice job of sculpting tone in a small package.

I use this pedal live as well as an alternative eq setting and boost. Super clean boost, quiet , and precise eq control. My only gripe with this pedal is that it is difficult to see the markings on it. The writing is small and blends in to the pedal. I also wish the pots had a little more resistance when turning them. I don't even try to look at the markings anymore, I just use my ears. I guess in the end, that's what we should ultimately be doing. :)
