Has anybody found a case/gigbag that works for the Monique 700 or a company that will build one to fit? I don't need an anvil style road case just something to protect the amp for local gigs.

Received my 700 yesterday - one rehearsal - sounds great - very warm and punchy

Yes, this one...

It's a Pulse flight case (large). I got it for my Monique 700, and it works perfectly. It's not very expensive, and it comes with the customizable foam in it. Great protection.

Any word on the standalone poweramp?
Tuesday I visited KC Sheetmetal (San Jose) to see where we were. We've had several telephone questions settled in the last several weeks. They are actively working on the chassis. My hand drawn (1965 Mechanical Drawing skills) plans have left questions open that can only be answered by experimentation. It is happening.

We still don't know exactly when it is all coming together, but it can not be too much longer.

I also met with Mechanical Engineers this week to see if they can do a better job with the Combo Monique (Dove Cage-ish) 700 chassis - for a non-small charge. Basically they will be taking my again hand drawn plans and making them more easy to produce. They can.

Lovin' the combo idea. How heavy (roughly). It might just tempt me to sell my 95lb lead-sled. :)))
I like those 95 lb sleds. My back doesn't, but I do. The combo (not a speaker combo) is going to be very close to the weight of the Rack Mount 700. That thing double boxed (my customers can tell you it comes packed very well) has a shipping weight slightly under 20 pounds. The all aluminum Tardis 700 is four pounds lighter.

I was a SVT-CL guy for years.

Until I came home from a gig a few years ago carrying my 85lb SVT head into the house during a snowstorm (sorry Jule, snow is frozen rain :wacky:) and slipped on the hardwood in my hall. I am lucky I didn't crush my pelvis or blow out a lung when that big b@$tard partially landed on me.

Still have the gashes in the hardwood from it.

Nothing like a tube SVT, but I don't miss lugging one around at all.

Well over 2 years with the Moniques and still couldn't be bothered to play/gig other amps.

Just moving the things around on a test bench is a brutal process. I am sorry you got hurt.

I'd like opinions on the power cord for the 700 watt amplifier versions of Monique, please.

There is a need for a robust power cable when one is handling 700 watts. The standard IEC cable (in every computer and printer and many music amps) is not terribly good as a high power mating connector. And it can come loose at inconvenient times. I am considering moving to the Power Con connector from Neutrik. It would be similar to this -> Invalid Link Removed

The trouble with this idea is that if this cable is lost, a replacement is not easy to come by.

What do you think?

I agree 100%!!! Made the decision a few weeks back to use these going forward. Have several here and they are very solid as you'd expect. With regards to replacement, I think offering a spare at a nominal cost, or at least the connector (which can easily turn any cable into one with minimal effort - no soldering required) is the way to go. If folks can leave the cable locked in during transport, that should minimize the occurrence of lost cables. Glad to see someone else is thinking the same thing!

All I can say is….. Hallelujah!!! Most pro companies use the power con's (Meyer, L Acoustic, etc). They are very reliable and much better than IEC cables. I welcome this and wish more companies would go this route. As stated above, these are super simple to make as well.

What about the power cable from Analysis Plus Cables??...easily obtained!
I still find the power cable to my Monique Dove Cage very poor...not a very positive fit !

My dove cage cable was a little loose feeling as well - I stuck one of these in there & all is well....

I had some concerns that someone (including me) might not know it was locked in place & try to force it out - so I stuck a little warning note to it as well...
