Jule Amps Monique part 5

I've had my Monique 700 for a few weeks now... I've been using it with one HD-112 for most gigs and it sounds great... Last week was a rock fill-in gig where I used two HD-112's and it really shined.. What I love most is it's very even across the whole spectrum and everything sounds full, nothings missing... Also, I don't have to mess with the EQ section.. I usually just set it once and it's good to go... I prefer it with my passive basses as well.. I have a Valenti that's passive and I like running my Sadowsky's passive with it as well... I was a little worried about how it would handle effects especially without an effects loop, but they all sound great especially my chorus pedal....

Missed my Monique this weekend. I certainly don't mind using provided backline on a multi-band stage, I can't wait to plug in on Thursday with my '1000 foot tall' Monique rig (2xfEARful 15's, amp bridged for 3000w) to shake some walls with some 3D tone.

I had them put bass in the monitors and sidefill to make it present on stage. : /

Done a small gig with a local artist last week, another chance to test drive my Monique because it is not an usual IEM gig! Using my Monique / Minnie 800D along with the Venue's Ampeg 410 speaker.
HUGE and CLEAR, this is what I can only tell, Monique just impressed me more and more in every gigs.
For those already got one, play the hell out of it! For who's not still, GET ONE from Jule! :)

I can't speak to the AI specifically. All I can tell you is that the effects returns of bass amps vary a lot in how they're implemented. I've tried Monique into the effects return of a Markbass F500, Genz Benz GBE 1200, and Demeter HBP-1 800D as well as straight into a Crest Pro Lite 2.0. Each had a different character (the return on the Demmie is actually my favorite way to run it, as it's possible to bypass everything in the front end but the Presence control, which I like to use with Monique).

The new Hypex-based power module that Jule's using is supposed to enhance the clarity and impact of Monique. I've not tried it, but I haven't heard anyone who has do anything but rave about it.

Not that you haven't done this, but matching the line level on Monique to what makes your amp happy can make a difference in tone, feel, and dynamic range. Into my Pro Lite 2.0, Monique sounds best with the Line Level up almost all the way. Less, and it's not as rich. More, and it starts to feel squashed.

Good luck, whatever you do!

So, I finally got to hear the Mo through someone else's capable hands. Saturday, we played a comic convention out on Long Island. My friend in Midnight Mob (can't recommend that band enough) was willing to play guinea pig for me to hear the amp from the other side and get her thoughts as well. We essentially were playing in a large conference hall with PA being used exclusively for the vocals. 2 Marshall 412's were backlined along with a Mesa 410. Dispersion issues aside, you could really hear the clarity of the Monique into the Crest Pro Lite 2.0 even with a sansamp cranked going into it. Very even and big sounding. I kept boosting her throughout the set and it never seemed to overpower the guitars. The Monique seemed to just sit exactly where it should - polite, yet still with authority. Even my friend was amazed at the clarity from the stage side. I wasn't super thrilled with the cab, but the Mo was a definite improvement over the last time I used it with the Streamliner.

My new Monique 700 came in earlier today, and I already played a gig with it this evening. It was nothing short of spectacular, and exceeded all of my expectations. It paired perfectly with my Bergantino CN212.

And Jule himself is an amazing class act. For him to send a hand-written note with the amp, thanking me for playing a Monique, makes me glad to own a product from someone of his caliber.

Just ordered one, don't even sure it'll improve my tone a lot, as all my rig is allready all-tubish (alessandro basset, effectrod pedals etc) but all that hype around monique... How long does it usually take to make one (i've heard mos are built from scratch each order)?

I've had my Monique for a little over a year now. I'm just as excited about playing it now as when I first got it. Jule will give you a ship date. He was true to his word with my delivery!
A great person to do business with!

I've been to the shop, Jule fits in there with the bits, but their ain't much more room than that. I sure didn't see a stack of Monique's hanging out to ship. I think it's all that he can do to just keep up with the demand. These are literally hand wired by the man himself. He has one helper. I'm pretty sure that means it will be a little wait for you. But don't fret (lol) the wait will be worth while.

Also my experience with too much tube has not been wonderful. Try it and see how you feel, but you may want to keep an eye out for comparable analog options for the pedals you have. The benefits you reap from Monique will be worth it. It seems like most tube pedals really only use the tube for make up gain these days. Monique will grab the signals and make a tube smoothly out of it anyway. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for replies! As my daughter was born a month ago, so no main-rig-sound for something like a year or two :_( Is it possible to use Monique for a headphones playing? (I wish I can call her Monique hehe :) but it's a bit strange name in Ukraine lol)

Yes, IF you take the DI and send it to a mixer. You will find that Jule tried to keep the signal path as clean and uncluttered as possible. Thus, not a lot of "extras". But you will forget all of that after you plug in and start playing.
However, a small mixing board will work perfectly: Input for DI, input for mp3, headphone output. Boom, you are set!
Enjoy!!!

I have three kids. You don't want to keep the house absolutely quiet b/c then ANY noise will wake them. Just play at a little lower than normal volume and she'll be fine and will get used to the noises of the house. She'll sleep right through it.

Here is a little film of Monique in action on a spoken word piece W my studio band live improve style....
The warmth and clarity really shine with the 65 Epiphone batwing.......

I know this is an old post but it hasn't left me. My wife thinks the spoken word thing is a bit weird but that's another story. I've fallen in love with this tone, would love to know what strings you're using there? Had no idea what this bass was and they're almost impossible to find, also this opened my eye to the Harmony H22 batwing, which again locating a decent one is very difficult. Have never played anything close to something like this but after 3 months I figured this wasn't just a short phase I have to have a bass that does something like this. What I have on the way is a Lakland Hollowbody 30, it's got the elements, shortscale, hollowbody, true neck pickup we will see. My purchase is a direct result of this clip three months ago, thanks Nomatic!

Sorry I'm a bit off topic.

Thanks Brother.......

The Batwing makes everything sound greazy.......
I attribute much of the tone to the 49 year old string and the Mudbucker....
And of course our favorite girl Monique..
