I think we are all pretty much certifiable. By the way my wife overheard me on the phone talking about Monique. I was saying to my guitar player that Monique was really sexy Looking. When I noticed My wife was listening to what I was saying, I realized she was going to take it the wrong way! It was fun explaining myself out of that one! Not!

Sure is. Sounds fantastic. This rig could cover about 90% of my gigging needs right now. I have a De-Monique on order that will eventually replace the rack, making the rig even easier to move.

I was very close to pulling the trigger for a CN212 but I just love my AE210's. They are light, sound great and the 2 of them cover most of my gigs. Add my Sadowsky SA410 to the mix, I am covered.

I would love a CH212, but logic won out over GAS on this rare occasion. I must be getting old!

P.s. what are you going to do with the rack Monique when you get the De-Monique?

Just curious as to what effects you are using with Monique that sound great.

Also, if you have had effects not work so well with Monique, let us know too.

No effects? That's cool too!

Personally, I am using a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI Programmable with great success. I am using it for distortion/ overdrive and clean(ish) boost. Sounds great with Monique. Very complementary and even on a raunchy distortion setting it lets Monique's tubiness shine thru.

I also just picked up a Tech 21 Boost Bass Chorus that sounds killer with Monique. I have tried 4 or 5 Chorus pedals with Monique and this one sounds the best by far.

Lastly, for a few funk songs I have used a MXR Bass Auto-Q envelope filter. Swooshy/swirly funky goodness.

P.s. I generally gig bass->tuner->Monique but lately I have been playing more funk and '80's metal, so I am using effects sparingly for fun.

I was originally thinking of keeping the rack mount Monique & Crest down at my studio to use exclusively for recordings & practice, however I now may end up selling it. Logic tells me I really don't need 2 Moniques, although I do like having the ability to do 2 ohms if I need to with the rack...

You can still use the De-Monique as a pre-amp only; the power module does not change that aspect of Monique.

Also, the Demeter power module adds only 2 pounds to Monique's weight, so IMHO, there wouldn't be any reason to have both.

Hey Monique owners,
Just curious as to what effects you are using with Monique that sound great.

I left the pedalboard home last night (no room in car, not working on any songs that actually needed it), and it was fantastic. Active PJ, both pups on, neutral eq. Monique with sensitivity dimed (pushed in), bass at 2 o'clock, mids at noon, treble at 10 o'clock. Into effects return of Carvin BX1500, post-loop graphic eq on and boosted about 3dB at 125Hz. (Cab has no low-mid hump, I put one in.)

Playing early 80's hard rock/metal... it was perfect. I was almost laughing at how stupid good it sounded.

That said, I usually have a pile of pedals. Current chain is:
-Line 6 G50 wireless
-Sonic Research ST200 tuner (on G50 tuner out)
-Empress Multidrive
-Swollen Pickle MkII
-Morley Power Wah Boost (big ol' chrome beast)
-Tech21 VT Deluxe

Multidrive for one of the following:
- mild overdrive
- barely overdriven with highpassed gritty distortion blended in (kinda grindy metal thing).
- a basic fuzz

Swollen Pickle for OMG fuzz, or really heavy synthy fuzz.

Morley as a volume pedal (mostly swells & such with synthy fuzz), basic wah, or *holy crap angry Burton screaming* fuzz wah (pushed by the Pickle). Have used the boost by itself for "twin guitar solo time" to take up some of the sonic space those things can leave empty.

The VT not used as much now with Monique around (prefer the OD on the Empress), but still some handy character changes at the drop of a hat, including a clanky brighter SVT-ish thing. Also kick it on a particular setting before going nuts with fuzz-wah, tames it a little. (Without it = potential earbleeds, tweeter torture, etc.)

All of the actual effects other than the VT are even newer to me than Monique (retired some other pedals for now), so still experimenting with all of it. But it all sounds good. The only bad thing I tried was running Pickle fuzz into Empress fuzz. Now that was truly awful for the 5 seconds or so it took me to recover from shock and turn it off. But that had nothing whatsoever to do with Monique.

Pedals: depends on the gig. Three options:

1. plug straight in

2. nano-board: TC Flashback delay -> FEA Dual Band Comp -> Sonic strobe tuner

3. jr-board: Aguilar Octamizer -> Aguilar Agro -> EHX Pog2 -> Jam Pedals Bass Waterfalls -> 3LeafAudio Wonderlove -> Strymon Brigadier -> Sonic strobe tuner

All the pedals play nice with Monique. Also use an RC-2 or RC-300 from time to time.

Yup.

I was a complete GAS freak for years. I bought and sold most of the amps discussed on TB. Markbass, Aggie, Ampeg, GK, Mesa, Hiwatt, Carvin, Traynor, Genz Benz, etc..... you name it, I have probably owned it.

I bought Monique 8 months ago and have not even looked at another amp. It is so good (IMO) that I bought a second Monique so I wouldn't have to use my backup Mesa or GK (both gone to fund Monique II) at rehersals.

So good in fact, my guitarists are so intrigued with all things Jule (the amps, not the dude) that I have a 40w Jule Paycheck guitar amp coming.

The only other pre that I would consider trying right now is the Mike Pope, but only because his onboard Pre in my Fodera is so killer.

Something better might come out down the road, but this pre is the real deal.

Anyone interested in trying one out would be hard pressed losing more than $150-200 if they loathed it and sold it in the TB classifieds. The resale is great too.

Jule is one of the best guys in the business to deal with too!

OK, that does it! I've been reading from thread #1, 1st post. I thought when I saw the picture that it looked like the bag from my Series 1 CPAP. Sure enough, I followed the link, and it's the identical bag!

So now I not only have to save my money to buy a rackmount Monique, but have to decide whether to save up the additional moolah to get the birdcage version (since, after all, I already have the travel bag).

Many of you may laugh your asses off, but I posted in the last thread that the carrying case from a certain Philips CPAP machine fits the Dove Cage perfectly. It also looks good, doesn't have logos or text plastered on the outside, etc. it is just a soft travel case. I have taken it to dozens of gigs and nobody thought is was anything other that a case made for the Pre.

May seem a bit (lot) weird, but anyone looking for a cheap soft case ($46.95) for Monique, this is a good deal, is well made and fits great.
