Exactly what I thought! T-40 was it?Just glancing at it, it brings to mind some of the Peaveys that came through my hands back in the 80's...
It's just nasty. On that V220 or Xsomething or whatever, it'd shockingly, insanely, beautifully nasty. I just wouldn't want it on a bass I wanted to look nice.
Get yer Carvin finishes straight, it's DragonSnot and it's beautiful....
I got one of those, and 2 of the one pickup versions. the all black one pickup fretless was one of my gigging basses last time I played much (along with a Peavey T40 fretted, of course, in case a fight broke out).Mines uglier! Probably heavier tooView attachment 531007
Pretty good for an American made instrument$769.00, shipped in a soft case.

Are yours all monstrously heavy and the pickups super hot?I got one of those, and 2 of the one pickup versions. the all black one pickup fretless was one of my gigging basses last time I played much (along with a Peavey T40 fretted, of course, in case a fight broke out).![]()

Carvin doesn't plek their instruments - they just do really good old fashioned fret work.I've never had a Carvin bass, just bought my third amp from them. Have never had a chance to try a PLEK'd bass either, gonna knock out two birds with this one. Have to admit, price drove this purchase. I have high hopes for it, but I still have the ten day trial to make up my mind.
The headstock on the black 80's Carvin with the cream humbuckers is a Gibson ripoff, not Fender. I like that body style a lot, though, more classic styling, before all the excess 80's crap. Which is cool, too, in its own right, but...)To me, Carvins tend to look like they're trapped in the 80's. This one isn't so bad really. It doesn't have the super 80's look to me.
The headstock has the same problem all Fender copies have. In an attempt to avoid lawsuits by having the same headstock design it ends up looking like a Fender with downs.
Sorry, yeah, I missed that story. Arrived broken, not shipped that way? Yeah, that stinks, insurance claim on that, I hope! I don't remember seeing Carvins with that shape headstock - 70s, maybe?Did you see mine this was what I got on Christmas eve. How is that for a present
