Just for Fun: Do Basses/Brands have a Gender?

Right or wrong, sometimes inanimate items get gendered (e.g., New Beetles are "girl's cars", etc.). I think MusicMan basses are totally guy basses (edited for clarity!). Same for Peaveys and Gibsons, with possible exception of Tbirds. Fenders and Rickenbackers seem a bit more female.

I've never considered any of my basses a gender. If you held a knife to my neck and demanded an answer, I'd say all my basses are male except the bass I refurbished for my daughter and put her name on the headstock.
Now when it comes to boats, females seem to be the dominant names and they are referred to as "her"

What an odd question, it never crossed my mind that certain basses are gender specific.

I guess in retrospect,I see all my basses as my bro's, maybe my wingman or partner. We hit the stage together, get a little crazy, and kill it.

If I had to choose what I felt was tailored more to a gender, I'd say short scale basses would be more for a smaller stature, where 35" and bigger more for the bigger peeps. Brands would have nothing to do with it.

Of course this holds as much water as does the thought of a gender based instrument in the first place.
