Oy, vey. Now, I'm not going to defend or attack GC in particular here, but I do work in a retail establishment, so: In your average retail business nowadays, salespeople HAVE TO contact you- it's one of the things their "job performance" is based on. If they don't send that e-mail or make that phone call, it counts against them. Not to mention having to hustle you for the "rewards" cards, the credit plans, &c.
Rest assured, from my un-scientific anecdotal hearsay, that about 99% of sales people fervently wish that they DIDN'T have to do all that crap! However they, like the rest of us, also like to eat and pay the rent and stuff, which entails keeping one's job, which (alas) entails doing stuff you'd rather not do.
Some businesses also use robo-e-mails (and yes, even robo-calls) to hustle you, and in my experience the tone of most is a tad over-"familiar" like the specimen cited in this thread.
So in this case, as with so many, it's what we're stuck with till The Revolution comes. So hey, mellowinman- mellow out! The guys at your GC would probably rather not send you that stuff either. And uh, how's that harp working? I got to hear Lee & War once, and that guy played some great harp!
