Kala UBass Megathread, Part 2

I've been reading since Megathread 1, post 1. I kept saying to myself, "Well, I've got the Samick Mini bass..." or "it's not a tone I need" and finally decided, after selling two basses, that getting one awesome little bass was a good idea.

I can see this getting a lot of practice time, and going with me to campus for in-between-class playing.

Has anyone tried one of these with a UBass?

Sbass, I am using an ADI21 at my Synagogue where I don't get to use an amp. This box is my only means of any control over my signal. I've been using it since December now and it is very handy. The mid frequency knob is handy for dialing in your preferred sound in the mids. And, when I want to be that simple, it has me packing just one pedal along with the U-Bass. The unit would be even more perfect for me if it integrated a tuner, compressor and ran on phantom power.

Thanks. I had forgotten that, and later I searched the thread and saw your references.

I have had similar thoughts to yours. I know you can get some of this out of the multi effects boxes out there, but I often don't want all of that. I want a single pedal with Some sort of tone shaping, along with a tuner, and maybe a compressor.

Anyway, back to the ADI21. You found the bass pretty hot for that, right. Good thing for the -20 switch.

My concern with it would be - any distortion. While that would be great for some, that's the Last thing I'm looking for. Have you been able to dial nice tone with zero distortion?

I am getting a clean signal to the PA by leaving the blend at 0 (off) and the PAD at -20.

I am thinking about trying the Fishman Pro-EQ Bass Preamp next.

It runs on phantom, has a compressor and EQing, XLR DI. No tuner, but if the Fishman is running off Phantom, then I only need a single adapter for the tuner, or risk using a battery.

The Fishman B2 bass pre soumds great woth the U-Bass. I assume that platinum bass Di is even better! I'll likely get one eventually...

The Behringer ADI21 was a cheap experiment and had been worth my time with it.

The band I've joined wants me to use the U-Bass. I took it to practice this past weekend and they loved the sound. I was running it through my FEA pedals, which just added many levels of awesome. But I need a simpler EQing unit for church where my layered levels of growl and distortion are not welcome. :D

Hi bass ukers, i'm new on this forum, and as i've said in my intro thread, i'm very interested by the ubass.
I follow this thread since the begining. If i decide to whrite my first post today, it's because i've just completed my prototype of acoustic bass uke.
There's some adjustments to make but it's à first step!

What do you think about?

Did you actually build that? Are those Thundergut strings?

I'm starting to wish I had a fretless acoustic.
The intonation on my fretted is good, but the more I play, the more I want it to be even better. And the only way to make it better is to get my ears to make it better. And the only way to do that - is to have a fretless.
