I'm just passing on what I've heard. I stopped used lemon oil a while ago. Nothing to do with what strings I use.

Meanwhile, in the Sub-Short Scale Bass thread, a guy is calling the U-bass a hipster fad.

I doubt they are breaking down. A little powder will take care of it.

That string hung up on your bridge for some reason. It didn't break down at the point of contact. It hung up at the point of contact, and you let it get put under too much pressure.

Info when fact is helpful - from both sides of the fence. When sweeping generalizations about strings being a Waste of money are made, that's not info. That's someone leading people away from a solution that might be very right for them.

Now, SB, musicians are allowed to their opinions, even opinions that may influence people to not buy something, much like round vs. flats on electrics.

It is the presence of these and less strong opinions that keep the community vibrant and ever-changing.

"sweeping Generalisations" were never made. I suggest you and anyone else read it again or for the first time. You are reading it with a bias.

Though they were a waste of money for me, I never suggested they would be a waste of money for everybody. Exactly and specifically the contrary. I allow anyones opinion and I hope others will too.

but fretless is the best on this bass unless you are deadly accurate with that fretting hand (string fart.) a lot of the reason i love this bass is that i can bring a small bass with a preamp to a gig and read music/charts onstage...don't have time to stare at my left hand. i think the fretless is just more intuitive. don't know about the solid bodies, or the current production models, but the fretted acoustic models will fart out on you. i'm gigging with my 'hog fretless at least once a week. yesterday i did a rockabilly concert outside on the beach and a jazz standards gig. i'm working it all the time.
