I owned all four solo albums on both vinyl and cassette. My Kiss pedigree is above your reproach.

i had about 10 of the makeup albums (back when they were still called albums) and my parents got so much grief from other parents for buying those things for me....kinda silly in light of what kinda crap people let their kids listen to today...(even i question what myself and the mrs allow ours to hear...) anybody pay much attention to what the "q" stations play? i mean honestly....my eight year old asked me the other day what does lmfao mean!!!!

100,000 Years, Ladies Room, Black Diamond, Deuce, Strutter, I like most of them. Mostly I like them because Gene completely ignores the bass drum and plays all over the beat. It gives those songs a cool sense of movement that transforms what could have been pretty bland if he didn't do that.

i've always thought gene was one of the reasons that casablanca picked them up. they were kinda the black sheep among the other artists for that label.

I think Gene wrote most of the music and it was Peter Criss that couldn't figure out what to do with the bass lines!
I definitely learned to follow the bass drum more from Thin Lizzy than from kiss. 100,000 years is one of the best hard rock songs ever recorded.

Peter knew exactly what to do. Anything else he would have done would have interfered with the bassline being awesome. And while I was a Thin Lizzy fan, Phil Lynott wrote those songs so the drummer was following him

My point being that the bass and drums were much more together in Thin Lizzy.
Believe me Gene and co. Made more than a few bucks off of me, I'm no KISS basher! My school notebook covers would have been pretty boring without KISS.
