Korn's Feildy

I have to say that Korn songs are generally bad, but Korn intros are generally good.

Best example: Shoots and Ladders. One of my favorite intros of all time...then he literally starts to sing Ring Around the Rosie.

I give Fieldy a huge thumbs up for getting himself clean and sober. That's not always an easy task. I've got friends who are well into thier 50's who still think the party hasn't ended.

Saw Korn once when Head was still with them. While I could have done without the profanity I still thought they were a great live band. The way Fieldy plays fits well with what they do.

Yeah. I don't know a whole lot of Korn, and Fieldy's bass *is* ridiculously scooped and clanky (not a fan of scooped) but some of the stuff I've heard by the band sounds pretty damn cool with his playing. Freak on a Leash has some pretty sweet bass playing...and his clanky percussive attack sounds great during the chorus. Try searching it on youtube...there's a vid of him and Korn's drummer playing the song...just drums and bass. Pretty cool.

Other bassists can complain all they want (while he laughs all the way to the bank), but the bottom line is the guy made music that millions of people love and did it his way. Not too many bands make it to 9 studio albums, and IMO Korn has done a great job of evolving without losing their original identity. Once Head left the band, his tone and playing became a lot more conventional to fill the new role opened by the vacant guitar spot, so I'd say he played perfectly for what the band needed on the first few albums; isn't that what a bassist is supposed to do?

I think He does well what all Bass players should do and that is hold the band together... He has his way and Billy Sheehan has his... I like Korn for a few songs then they start to loose out with me... Think about it and in the Metal Genre there is Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) and the guy in ACDC All four of these guys hold down the bottom line, stay in the pocket and Drive the band Forward.... All in their own way...To me as a bassist That'
s our job.... JMHO
