I'm serious here. If I had to repaint one I'd do it in some sort of 'Star Wars' rolling fade of light to dark with the light towards the neck. These basses are kind of like a Millennium Falcon of the bass world.

I almost jumped on a 5 string Factor from Russia but really, I have to maintain here...
BTW, like someone else here mentioned, I kind of prefer the 9v electronics as well now that I have both.

That's cool. I like the adjustability and EQ of the 9V better but still live in active position 2 on the 18V 80% of the time. Like I said before. To me active position 1 on the 18V sounds identical to the 9V but that's why there's chocolate and vanilla
ETA: To elaborate a bit. One of the greatest advantages of the 18V pre for me is again just having the option. You never know what sort of acoustics you're going to have to deal with depending on the venue. If active 2 is just too boomy I'll simply click over to active 1 and my sound cuts right through the mix nice. I'll use one or the other as a base line, then make slight adjustments from there.

As coincidence has it I grabbed an original 1989 Kubicki hard case today for one of mine that came without one.
I payed a visit to my friend that turned me onto Kubicki's. He's got a boat load of basses and is more of a gig bag guy. His wife has been giving him a hard time due to the shear amount of dusty (mostly empty) cases taking up space. So he sold me one of his spare Kubicki cases on the cheap. Now all my babies have a nice safe home. Thanks Steve!!

He does have one more. We found two but he sold one of his Kubicki's without the case back to an old friend who owned it 20 or so years ago and the kids been asking him for it for a few years now. He told him he'd give it to him when it turned up. I'd be shocked if the kid didn't want it but.... I'll let you know if he doesn't.

I can restore it so I'm not worried if it is, ironically i probably will trade it for one of my yellows back from one of my adult students i sold it to him a few years ago.... the one in Russia would cost a fortune in shipping and import taxes to get back home....a made the mistake of buying overseas cost me an extra $390 boooooo
