La Bella Deep Talkin': Best. Strings. Ever.

I put some on my Fender Jazz bass a few months ago and they sound absolutely spectacular. I have DR High Beams on my Sadowsky. So I got bot the "modern active jazz bass with rounds" sound covered and the "old school passive jazz bass with flats" sound covered.

Labella strings are great all around. the deep talking flats and rounds are best in class. Company could use some better management as they are really slow... their hofner strings are great too. i have a extra long set on my ampeg aub for about 20 years and they still got it.....

Yep, that's what I have on my Hofner Icon - Labella Beatle Bass flats. Love the tone, love the feel! And a quick shout-out to Pilgrim - thanks again for turning me on to Labellas! :D

Somebody talk me out of it- I'm considering ditching them (see post # 20).....they sound GREAT but the FEEL is driving me nuts.....mine are not new, but, not really well broken in either. They grab my fretting fingers when sliding, much more than the nickel rounds I'm so used to- this makes large position changes much more difficult- I am trying very hard to minimize finger pressure- I really want to like these strings.
I will admit my calluses are a bit soft from a lack of gigging lately. Maybe I need to practice more to bring 'em back up. Anybody think this may be my problem? Harder calluses=less friction? Again, I can play rounds all day without this issue. Thanks all.

I'd love to try them, but they're so bleedin' expensive (don't even bring up TIs).

The thought of dropping over forty bucks on a set of strings just gives me erratic heartbeat and this terrible clutching feeling in my throat.

I just ordered a set of 760FM-B for my 96 Fender JB 5 string... As I have not recieved my Bass yet...I hope that it has a top load and not body through design. do you know if this model has a top load to it? LaBella states this string is not designed for String through body design..Dam..hopefully they work!!..If not I guess im ordering a new bridge!

Best regards
Randyt

I've noticed a strange thing with mine - when I take them off my bass for a while (few minutes maybe?) and put them back they are coming back to life and sound simply AMAZING! With great sustain, thumb and clean attack - just like on all of these great recordings of Duck Dunn and other great players.

But after a few days the soft highs are gone, the strings become "clicky" in the moment I pluck the string, and the sound is very midrangy.

So far, I've seen 3 recommendations for light gauge and 3 recommendations for medium gauge in this thread.

Two questions:

How do the Jamersons compare to the Deep Talkin' Flats?

Which Gauge?

760FX Deep Talkin’ Flats Extra Light Gauge 039 056 077 096
760FL Deep Talkin’ Flats Light Gauge 043, 060, 082, 104
760FM Deep Talkin’ Flats Medium Gauge 049 069 089 109

Thanks! :)

Jamersons have absolutely *intense* tension. I would stay away from those....

FMs are good but pretty beefy.

FLs are what I prefer.
