Lady Gaga Isn't so Bad

BTW, I don't understand the hatred towards Lady Gaga. She's not all too pretty, but I've hooked up with a hell of alot worse. If you think she can't play or sing, I dare you to watch this video. The music may not be to your liking, but she certainly has talent. There's a few others that out there that show she's got some pipes, and isn't a bad pianist, too.

I can't say that I own any of her music, ever went to her concerts or directly contributed to her income in any way, but I certainly don't mind her. There's plenty of other artists out there with far less talent that have a hit or two just based on their good looks. God bless Lady Gaga for even rising above needing beauty to get ahead in the pop world.

I think she's pretty. She's a nice Italian girl (I'm Italian, so maybe I'm biased ;) )

I think she looked better with dark hair though.

Missing Person and The Tubes were great. I guess Dale Bozio still tours with them, but not Terry. The Tubes still gig too.

Dale has her own band called Missing Persons, but she's the only member from the original band. They did try a reunion after Warren Cuccurullo was kicked out of Duran Duran, but Dale and Terry don't get a long at all.

Here's Dale and Warren in 2009, so maybe they are still working together sometimes.

They are one of my favorite bands. :D

I used to think her singing was so-so. Until I gave a listen to a number of her "Live" or "Unplugged" type performances. Here's one from the Howard Stern show.

While I may somewhat agree that her commercial pop tunes on the radio are a bit banal, no one would make that music if people weren't gobbling it up with every spare dollar they have.

So who's really to blame? Haha.

Either way, I think she's got a pretty strong voice. I'd be curious to see what she could do in other contexts.

i've only listened to a few of her songs, but they are pretty generic imo
in comparison to peaches or m manson, i'd classify her as edgy lame
(not all that psychological, socially transformative, or political)
probably pretty interesting for people who are young and don't have access to a thriving local scene or non commercial college radio
she is totally overexposed though and very vulnerable to a backlash

My sentiments exactly. I find her songs to be very generic and not even particularly catchy, but remember to give credit where it's due.

She's basically a pre-teen females and young teen idol, like Davy Jones was. Marketing at it's best.

There's no comparison between Dale and Lady Ga Ga. Dale could be and was a playboy bunny. Missing Persons songs were original making it hard to put in any category. Maybe a bit of a variety of Techno, Jazzy, fusion, spacey, disco. So hard to describe which made it so refreshing. What's refreshing about Gaa Gaa. She looks exacty like a character from the Fifth Element...where everyone's character were just made as extreme as you could imagine.

My wife buys all her stuff. Women like her music. Her outfits keep her in the limelight. I read an interview where she said she was not making it at all. One day on a tour she decided to take her clothes off and play in bra and underwear. Suddenly the crowd went wild. Same songs, same band but no clothes and she was a big it. It was all uphill from there. She was together in the interview.
