Guys... I'm doing the unthinkable... I have posted my brand new 4401 with Sadowsky pre/Nord pups for sale here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8242025#post8242025
So here is an 08 Indo-plek New Old Stock 55-01 in Inca silver when I got it:
Here it is after removing the barts, re-routing for a nordstrand NP5, wiring in a stacked knob and having a pickguard made to cover the mess:
Although I gotta say, it sounded great even before the mods....

I never thought about turning an 01 into a P bass, I just went and bought a Lull PJ5 (which is awesome by the way).

I almost (and I mean by a matter of minutes) traded a DJ5 for one of those Lulls! It was the day they announced they were no longer gonna make them, so I kept it.
In my frustration at the lack of a Skyline P5, I bought the Lull.
It has been nothing short of spectacular!
That bass literally sings it so resonant.
And it sounds great.
I was thinking I would throw a Nordy P5 pickup in it before I got.
It's perfect just the way it is.
But I still want a P5 with a Nordy pickup in it...
I love the neck of my 44-01, but the pickup size is hurting my right wrist/forearm. I mostly rest my thumb on the pickup, and the distance from the edge to the E string is uncomfortable. It looks to me like the 55-01 has a shorter distance between the pickup edge and the B string. Is this true?
