ME 2...
Me 3! Due to the LOG bass, I'm now adding a Nordy Bigsplit to this 55-01 that already has the NP5 in it. I will also probably re-design the pickguard a little, since it won't need to cover so much.

That is totally hot!
And you say it's gonna be hotter?
When the silver limited editions hit, I'ma be all over one...
would get you a modern tone that's fairly close. My old one was a sadowsky pre and nordstran fat stacks to me it sounded in between a jazz bass and a 535 re modern but can fit in other places. This new set up is still in the making
Both the Bart pups, and Bart preamp in an MTD are proprietary cooperative designs b/t MTD and Bartolini.
Also, MTD's are *super sensitive* to the various wood combinations used.
Could you get a nice modern gospel tone?
Sure
Nail the MTD tone: to a degree, but, there's a lot that goes into making a 535 a 535, in all their various incarnations...
I had a local guy rewire my MK5's and LH3.
He said it was wired according to spec for the LH3 but not to spec for the MK5's.
WOW!
An exponential improvement, talk about thick, chewy, and huge!
So it's not exactly MTD tone, but would you say it's ALOT more modern sounding than a passive fender-y ash/maple jazz bass?

You didn't ask me but if I were you, I would SO leave this bass totally alone. LOG bass or not, this thing kicks MUCH butt exactly as is.![]()

Thanks! But I don't like to have basses that are almost identical, and I don't want to want to give this one up, so it's in the shop...
