OK, I'm in. Here's my 44-01 fretless w/US Barts, NTMB preamp & strung with DR Hi Beams.
It was an relatively easy upgrade that didn't break the bank.
It sounded a bit brittle with the MK-1's for a fretless, but sounds fantastic with the US Barts & preamp.
I almost put this up for sale/trade the other day, but I played it for that entire day & decided against it.

I've heard good things about Yorkville. I bet your 55-01 will sound great through it.

I've got gas for another 55-01. My local dealor has a sweet, used '01 that is calling my name. These versatile basses work anywhere in any situation and are a dream to play. I look back at the one I previously owned with fond memories and am longing to own another..

It's probably my favorite bass.

I never leave home without it.

I'm looking for a natural with some sick grain and a maple neck.

A clone to this one, only sicker grain...

Big singles and a Sadowsky pre.

BOOM! Watch ouT!!!

For you guys thinking about putting Nords in there:
Nord has their own preamp now.
Haven't tried it yet, but I bet it's a great match for their pups...

I was really disatisfied with the MK-1 preamp and decided to go all passive. I'm a set it and forget it kinda guy, so I do all my EQ on the amp now and I am much happier.

The new wiring provides a ton of tonal variety. I especially like to run the neck pickup in parallel and the bridge pickup in series.

I think I might just be doing my 55-01 this way. I recently got quite an amp upgrade and have realized that I've been using the onboard preamp on all of my basses to compensate for a lousy amp. Now that I've got my new one I find that I'm adjusting my sound at the amp.

y-o-y - do you have a wiring diagram for your setup?
