aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
come down off the fence already....

Still considering the 44-01 but upgrading...

If you only take out either the preamp or pickups, which would you choose :P

I did both on my first 01, sold that one (never should've :rollno:) but on the second 01 I only replaced the preamp with an NTMB.

Bought a pair of Nordies to put in it, but couldn't get over the space left around the pickups, too OCD er something...

They sound great as is, but upgrading a more of a bonus & fun project for the kids on a rainy day. ;)

Now go buy one already!

Sent over here from the Lakland Club thread. Here's my new 55-01. Stock right now. I haven't played out with it much yet but after reading the first 20 some odd pages, its got me gas'in for a pup and pre upgrade already.

What are you guys using for 3rd party HSCs? Looks like the Lakland branded one is from Roadrunner. Anyone know if the SKBs fit?

Oh and by the way that bass is hot!

My second 5501 was identical to that one.

You'll soon find out with a few upgrades the 01's become world beaters!

First thing I'm going to do is upgrade to DR strings. Then play it out bit to assess the my upgrade path. Not too many of my basses ever stay stock. I'm thinking US Barts and NTMB pre. Man, Bartolini qualifies for having the worst web site ever. I think I'm sorting it out via the Bass Place though.

Yea, it's pretty bad!
I don't know why they don't throw a couple of bucks into it.

I get my parts from best bass gear.

I put the MK5CBC's in mine with a LH3 preamp, talk about nasty and versatile.

I never leave home without it...
