Pretty much every song up there now was done with combinations of all my Lakland -01 basses, of which I have several. haha! Anyway, I thought my fellow -01 players might like to hear some of the tunes. All are stock MK-1 pickups and pre's. I've no desire to change them out at all... they cut well for my needs and have lots of presence!

Haha... you know what, someone actually said something very close to that on stage the other nite. I was sitting in on a gig and the singer was mentioning the 3 other bands and some other folks I play with, and at the end she said "and I think he even plays with himself sometimes, he stays so busy." A huge hush hit the crowd, then a burst of laughter. I think folks were trying to see if it was intentional. haha.

Okay, you guys are starting to drive me nuts :D. It's tax and bonus time and I'm aching to Mod my 55-01, but which way do I go. I'm pretty sure I want the Nords but how do you decide between the FS, Singles, DC or Splits? Also, how would you compare the Bart NTMB-L with the Aguilar OBP-3? I play Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Funk, Fusion and Motown/R&B, so versatility is a must. Got cash and I'm ready to Mod.

I LOVE THIS BASS!! this is the bass that i GAS over more than anything in the entire world. trade you my wife for it, even up....okay i'll gladly throw in some cash if i have too!! :D

You can read the descriptions of the pickups on the Nord website (it you haven't already).

Plus there are plenty of guys running the Nords in their 5501's here you could ask.

The OBP is an outstanding preamp, the only small complaint I've heard is that a little turn gets alot of cut or boost.

I don't think you could possibly go wrong with either pre...

That's right, FedEx delivered her this morning.

Back from the creator, better than ever.

Brian and his team at Lakland did an excellent job.
The were fast, throrough and professional.

And the price was right.

So now I have a 5501 with a LH3 preamp and US Bart pickups.

What a combination!

With the LH3 I knew what to expect, with the US Bart's I didn't.

The Bart's delivered in spades!

I was able to play for few minutes this morning before work and the bass I have now easily surpasses my expections.

I recommend the US Barts to anyone thinking about an upgrade.

P-Bass on steriods is the best way to describe the tone. Fat punchy bottom, clean, abundant mids, crystal clear, sparkly highs, with bite!

And the LH3 works great with the US Barts, 18 volt headroom from a 9 volt battery, a pinch of grit and total frequency control.

I'll post more later...

True satisfaction???? PRICELESS!!!!

Played my first -01 series Monday at Bass Club CHicago (I know- I know - a Lakie enthusiast and I never played one - shame on me!!)....I really liked it....not what you expect from an "entry level" model!!!

Reminded me a little of some of the tones I got out of my T-40......

Here is my 55-01. Right now it's got Nordy Fat Stacks and a Seymour Duncan preamp. I'm not a big fan of the pre, so I'm gonna change it out. Not too sure to what yet. It'd be cool if I could get an LH-3 and rig to work smoothly with the Fat Stacks.

I just finished the my 44-01 mods last night. I've had the bass for over a year, but just got some Big Singles and a Audere Classic 4 pre. Installed them last night. It really brought the bass to life. Ill get some pics up tonight when I get back from work.:bassist:

The bass is lighter.
I think someone said the standard knobs weight about a pound, the LH3 knobs are considerably lighter.

It bass sounds enormous.
Really, really BIG!
It sounds exponential larger than it did before.

The highs are very, very sweet.
Not pingy like before.
Great for plucking, chords and melodies.
They are rich and full and guitar like.

This 5501 would compare favorably with any boutique bass available today.

I'll try to get some sound bites up this weekend...
