I'm still digging my 55-01D

I will be sticking in some Nordy's when I figure out which ones I want! :D

Looks like I'm back a little quicker than I'd planned....And I think we can forget the 4401, I'll take the number 13.

My newest toy, I pick it up on Sunday:

I was looking at that one and another one last week. I pondered trading my Kubicki for it but then I realized that I already have a nice one and I don't need two of them. I'm an idiot sometimes.

Fabulous!

Cherry Burst is my absolute favorite Lakland color.

Actually that's why I even know what a Lakland is.

The bass player in a band I went see had a cherry burst 5594.

The bass caught my eye and the tone was monster. I was hooked after that...

Do you know if your bass has a NTMB preamp in it?

I emailed Brian @ Lakland today.

I'm going with the Lakland LH3 Preamp and US Bartolini MK5CBC (the MK1 replacement).

Lakland has agreed to do the install if I supply the pickups.

So as soon as I get the pickups (which are en route),

I'll be shipping the bass out, should have it back in about a week...

Price for everything $450.00, including shipping.

I want to hear some clips when you get it. You better not make me jealous. :D

Actually, I do not think that it is. :crying:

Can someone who owns a 55-01 tell me the string spacing at the bridge from the G to the B strings . Thanks .

I haven't measured it, but I believe they are 19mm. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had a 55-01 and sold it awhile back. I miss that bass. I changed out the stock pre for a NTMB and it didn't change the tone at all, just added better pots.

Thanks for that...

I feel I did the right thing by not getting a NTMB and switching out the pickups...

Or maybe the pickups are the key.

Either way, I should have a smoking 5501...

I like the smooth punch, airy top, deep bass and sweet mids of the US Barts.

The LH3 is simply steriodial. 18v headroom in a 9v package, and all the other good stuff it brings.

I don't know what the combo will sound like, but I'm hoping to get close to a MTD 535 tone, with some grit thrown in.

We'll find out in a few weeks...
