Lakland bridges

The Lakland bridge is one of the first things that makes it a Lakland, apart from the headstock and killer bassage.

Don't get rid of it! I urge you.

Hey, I liked the "look" of the Lakland bridge. I just need quick release because I change and recycle my strings embarassingly often.

Mad props to you phatBasstard for swapping out the bridge, it looks excellent. Did you drill new holes I assume? Were the old holes covered up by the new bridge?

The Hipshot I'm using is the one that you can get from Carvin. It only uses two big screws of which the holes lined up perfectly with the middle two (of the four) holes for the Lakland. I just had to reem them a little since the Hipshot screws are a little bigger. The Hipshot is normally also string thru capable, but since the Laklands holes are angled they don't line up. But that's obviously not a problem for me.

That is not what musicman bridge looked like

That's exactly what a Music Man bridge looked like. It's a Music Man Bridge on a Music Man Bass that's similar to the Oval Lakland Bridge. The pics you showed is a current MM bridge. The one I showed is an older one which, IMO, Dan based his bridge on.

FYI, I have no desire to change the bridge on my Lakland. I like it.

Sheesh I must be on drugs or something, I certainly am not articulating myself very well. Ok, the lakland bridge looks like it is based on the older musicman bridge. Wonder why musicman move away from the oval shape?

I don't think that any bridge is a direct replacement.

You may be able to contact HipShot and see if they can make an A or B style that would be a direct replacement.They make the Bridges for Lakland* and know the hole layout.

I emailed Hipshot since I was curious about this...
also asked them if they would make paddle head tuners...(lollipop tuners?)...I'll repost when I hear from them.
