What 112's are you guys playing your lakies through? How do you like them? I am on a serious kick for 112's and am wondering what direction to go. Aggies are on my radar now, but would love some other feedback.
I guess some of it will depend on what kind of stuff you're gonna play through it and what head you're using. I've got an Aguilar GS112 that I use with my JO5 CS with flats and my fretless. I dig it alot. It's small, sounds great and fits in the trunk of my 4 door import. Powered by a Shuttle 6.0.
I have an Eden WTX500....doing mostly worship stuff, just need some stage monitoring, with a phat tone. The eden 112's were a bit thin for my taste.
The Epifani UL 112's I had sounded killer! They use them at Lakland too! Well...a 212 Epi.
A friend of mine has a gs112, and I've done direct comparisons between it and my NeoX112. This was some time ago, and I've posted here about it many times. You could do a search for that comparison using my handle and "gs112" in the keyword search.
I can't remember all the details, but the gs112 is quite small for a 112, yet still has a good tone. It's a bit scooped sounding as many have suggested, which puts it more toward the modern side IMO. It also had a bit less volume than the NeoX at the same volume setting. We weren't trying to see how loud they could go by any means. Just a normal bedroom volume using, switching the speakon cable back and forth between the two heads. I'm not sure if the volume drop was because of the scooped mids or a lower efficiency. It wasn't huge, and nothing I'd worry about.
My opinion of the gs112 is that it is a very good value for the money and are ultra portable. They're cheap new, and even cheaper used, yet they sound as good as most any other 112 out there save two - the Neox 112 and the db112. The db112, is a whole 'nother thing. It's got a low end that extends much deeper than the gs112, which gives it a very pillowy response that would work great for rock, r&B, etc. It competes with the NeoX 112 IMHO and is the only other 112 out there that I really like.
The Neox 112 is somewhere inbetween the gs112 and db112 in terms of tone. It's not as deep as the db, but is much fuller sounding than the gs. It has a low-mid bump which makes it great sounding right out of the box. It's a bit larger than either of the Agg's, but not by much. That low-mid bump makes it a bit growlier or aggressive sounding than either of the Aggy's.

Oooh, and forgot that one. +1 to that, although I've only used the combo form, so not sure of the standalone 112's. The combo is very warm sounding.
