It is hard when you have to stop making one of your best sellers, but I am sure Dan and the guys have something else in mind to fill that void. Maybe a JO with the DJ neck? Maybe a BG5 in a skyline? Maybe a who knows what?!?!?!

It is hard when you have to stop making one of your best sellers, but I am sure Dan and the guys have something else in mind to fill that void. Maybe a JO with the DJ neck? Maybe a BG5 in a skyline? Maybe a who knows what?!?!?!
But maybe it would bring in some new buyers! I'd buy one!

I had a Bart Equipped HB for a while - I loved it, sounded great and when things pick up I will buy another...
I played a HB w/Chi's a few months ago in a Music Store for about an hour - I loved it, sounded great. I have to be honest and say I could hear much of a difference.

I love the DJ neck and body... but, a DJ neck on a JO wouldn't appeal to me as much. I like the smaller body on the DJ. It fits my frame better for sure.
So....... am I to understand that if Darryl goes with another builder that Lakland CAN'T continue to build one of their best sellers?? That's insane! Can't they just rename it?
To be honest, I don't give a rat's @$$ who's name is on a bass' headstock or in it's name. And, I didn't even know who DJ was before the Lakland addiction.
All the tooling, jigs, etc for the DJ basses has to be garbaged? That's be just a CRIME IMO.
Could this happen w/ the Dunn, Glaub, Osborne??

That "other builder" is the original maker of the Daryl Jones signature.
Now that A-Basses is returning, they need their flagship model back.
it's my understanding that DJ had a big part in the design of the bass, all the tweaks to the standard jazz shape. so it makes sense that if he's gone, they can't make the bass anymore.
that said, surely they could license the rights to the shape from him for a price (depending on what sort of hold he has on the design)

CRAP! Someday, I was gonna get another DJ5 in black w/ RW and put all black hardware on it and a red n/ black swirled guard from Chandlers, and wire the pups in series.
