LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #25

Sorry for the doublepost, but something is bothering me: Why is it so hard to find an active Skyline Decade anywhere on the Internet? I'd really like to sell/trade this to be able to get one of those, but I can't seem to find one. Any suggestions?
I think there just aren't many active Skyline Decades out there--most, maybe all, were special-ordered by members of the Dudepit (who ordered the original run of them). The vast majority I've seen in my visits to Lakland have been passive.

Give Leo Lopez a shout--he's a used gear dealer who also works for Lakland, and he's a great guy. He'll do trades sometimes, and he may have access to an active one that's not listed on his site.

Well that sucks but I was more in love with the look and the pickups than anything. Can you recommend anything in the $1000-$1300 range new/used that has ChiSonics? Or am I pipe dreaming :(

active and passive available:

Yeah I saw that one but it's *just* out of my comfortable price range. I'm still kicking myself for missing the one in classifieds by about a half hour. I was going to bit the bullet and recoup by selling the 55-02 but I was too late.

In passive basses, Skyline JOs and DJs with Chis come up occasionally. And the Chis come standard on the hollowbodies (1400 new, but I could easily see a dealer coming down to $1300). The Skyline HB is a beautiful instrument!

But active Lakies with Chis are rare beasts. I only know of one 55-02/44-02 with Chis, and the owner isn' parting with it. (I played it yesterday.) I'll tell ya, if you want a preamp because of the boost, the Chis are seriously high-output on their own.

Talk to Bass Central and see how far they'll come down, you never know in this environment.

All:

This is a GREAT place to congregate and, as we have stated on many occasions, the LOG is a strong supporter of TB....

However, please keep in mind that the LOG has a Lakland specific web site (Link Removed) where we can congregate and get our Lakie fix....

please make sure you visit there and post there.

our membership has been growing exponentially since we instituted the "free" membership, but the number of posts have decreased.

we MAY initiate some form of give away for those who drive traffic to the site.....

ideas are appreciated!

yeah, you and markus get all the cool stuff! :D

Obviously you have not been around hippies. That is not the way it is here...livin' it every day.

Punks don't wear Chucks here. That has changed, it just takes a while for the rest of the country to catch up.

Who's the fool now!

was about to ask what chucks were but ah, googled into them. Metalheads wore Cons, and nu-metal-heads (don't know what they call themselves) too.
I used to have those

now guys, I'm in a situation here. Your advice is welcome

This one guy and I have settled about selling my Shoreline 55-94 to him. His GF is also MAY be going to the US in November-December and she's ok with bringing me a new bass too. If she ever goes, that is.

Now, I want a fretless US 55-94 and a JP, - shame there are no available in 5 strings. Custom order of a US PJ5 is out of the question for me. I was thinking getting a JO5 and sorta using the neck pickup for a p sound, until the LOG LE B3 theme was revived.

Besides the obvious fretless 55-94 variants, what options do I have?

New Lakland ships out today. Should be here by Friday.

and here are a few more with my Glaub from our Labor Day gig. I do feel bad though as my JO5 is not really getting any play time.

Hey guys,

Proud LOG member here. My only Lakland is a beautiful one-of-a-kind Jerry Scheff Fretless....

Lakland-Scheff-Fretless.jpg

It's stamped "JS10" on the headstock. According to Dan Lakin (from the LOG forum):

"Bass was made in later 2005. I had it here as a demo until I sold it in June of 2006. It is the only fretless Scheff ever made. I hope you enjoy it! I hated to see it go"

I also heard from Lakland that they used to take this bass to NAMM, and Tal Wilkenfeld played it once. I imagine she played it a lot better than I ever will!
