LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #26

I've quickly come to the realization that I'm just gonna have to save up for a US Deluxe version. I love that flamed maple. Also, it appears that may be the only way to get the trans-orange "markus" finish on it :)

It'd be pretty fitting for me too since I'm a Clemson grad... GO TIGERS! :)

This brings up an interesting question. Since your HB is a translucent color, how did they resolve the issue of the seam at the side of the body?
Can the Hollow Body be ordered with translucent Markus-orange?

You can see the seam if you look close, but the trans burgundy is pretty dark. Lighter trans would show it more, but I think it looks good. I'm sure you can order one it Markus Orange...but then I'd have to cry:crying:

See, I figured maybe it's because the Flamed Maple might cover up the seam... I dunno. But I'm determined to get an HB in some shade of orange. Even if it has to be a solid color.

hey Everybody,

I'm a long time Lakland guy (I've lost count of how many I've had over the years. Of course I still wish I had them all!)

Anyway, I've never owned a Skyline & am thinking of getting a DJ5. The question is....
What (if any) are the differences between the Korean & Indo versions?

I have a chance fo a new Indo or a pre-owned Korean at ~ $130 difference between the two.

I have an Indo-plek JO5 and a Korean DJ5. There shouldn't be any noticeable manufacturing-based differences between the 2. Even though they are 2 different models, I can't tell any difference on mine. The Indonesian ones will all be plekked. That's not necessarily the case with Korean ones. It is Lakland's lack of willingness to budge at all on quality control that makes this happen.

BTW how do I go about joining this group?

Welcome! Send a PM to 'Nubs'. He'll get you a number. If you haven't already, make sure and check out LaklandOwners.com. That's the place to get all the news from Lakland first!

LH3 update. I know you guys were on the edge of your chairs waiting for this. ;)

I installed the new LH3 pickups in my 44-02 ( replacing the SD Basslines ) and let's just say the difference is night and day. I could see the SD's being good for hard rock but I'm more into the neo-soul ( sorry Jauquo ) types of tone. The LH3's are definitely way better for me. Much fuller lows and the bright harshness is gone.

My new blonde 55 94. I love the new Lakland pickups and electronics. They brought me back to owning a Lakland. I never liked the barts or the s.d. pickups which made me get rid of my previous Laklands which was too bad because I have always loved the 55 94. IMO it has the best B string in the business and its one of the most comfortable basses to play.

Nice! Glad it worked out!

Awesome... I'm glad the LH3's are working for you!!! Enjoy.....

Well, 1 Lakland out and 1 Lakland in over the past 2 days. Sold my White DJ5 that was in the classifieds locally, and the 55-02D that I got in a partial trade on my Lull PJ5 showed up this afternoon. It's real nice. Easily the nicest out of the 4 Skyline's I've owned.

Was hoping to get a nice group shot before the other DJ left, but it didn't happen. Oh well. I'll try to get a shot of the current Lak lineup soon.

congrats!!!

congrats!!!

Thanks! Just playing it a bit now before I head off to band practice. It's definitely a good one. Getting used to the LH3 electronics... much more "hi-fi" than I expected... but not in a bad way. A lot differnt than the Barts in my previous 55-02 and my 55-94. Some of that may be the strings that came on it too. They're a lighter gauge than I tyically use.

Still have to snap a pic... I'll have one tomorrow.
