Do the Skyline bodies ship to the U.S. already routed? I know you can get different pickups for an additional charge, but what about a 44-01 or 44-02 with a passive J-type setup?

they do, routed, coupled and strung. The pups and pre aren't there though. You may watch "laklandowners" vids on youtube where Dan shows and tells



P.S. ooops, that refers to the 02-s, the 01-s I don't know for sure. But I'd vote for "wired" since the MK-1 pups and pre are made in Korea and bought "as is".

Thanks Evan. I was amazed at how buttery it sounded. It sounds like an all tube head...or at least as close as you can get without having one. lol A ton of bottom end for that little 112. I can't wait to add the extension to it.

Exactamundo, man! I have a tube head as well, and I've tried a number of hybrids. The Walkabout is as close to tubes as you can get, IMO. Turn the gain up and the master down for some nice grind, or go the other way for smooth fatness.

CONGRATS! I played that at the GTG, and then I saw it the other day, and that DS takes it over the top!

I ordered a pg for my classic from jeanies - and they make pg for the Lakland factory. That small piece of ... plastic... cost like $51! Looks cool though. And I'm sure JO torts are on ebay almost anytime

In addition....does anyone know if the 5501 neck is the same as the JO5 neck? There seems to be some differences on the Lakland site.

Another Q hhahaha - does the back of the headstock have the serial number?

1. I think they are the same. All Lakland 5-string necks save for the Sky DJ necks (and a few very special 5-stringers) have the same measurements.

2. to the extent of my memory Skies are stamped on the top edge of the headstock. The same with US and Shorelines except their SNs are embossed.

For those who own US 55-94's specially older ones can you help me out and tell me what the serial number format is, like how many digits, are there letters in it, etc?

I emailed Lakland on mine (it has a 4 digit sn) and they said it wasn't a Lakland number and for me to double check, it's lightly stamped where Lakland sn's are usually found and it is exactly what I emailed to them. No response yet when I emailed back to confirm the sn.

US serial numbers do not correspond to year of production, if that's what you wanted to find out, they are put in consecutive order. So Lakland is pretty much the only place to find out. You MAY be able to find out when the body was made if you lift the MME pickup but the s/n is put after the neck is coupled to the body (in my case, the body was custom made and was hanging around at Lakland for 4 years before the bass was assembled).

OR you MAY be able to find out the approximate year by what pups and pre you have (unless it has been modded) and, if you suspect yours is an earlier bass, by such factors as the placement of battery compartment, knobs and jack, how the neck is jointed to the body, whether there is or not a Lakland logo on the bridge etc.

Hmmm... my 55-94 has the serial stamped into the top of the headstock and it's a 4-digit # (no letters) as well... 6254. Can't remember what year I was told it was by the previous owner, but I think it was either 2001 or 2003.

mine is 6113 IIRC (61** for sure) which makes it early 2001

and the lines make it "easier".....I stink but can get by....especially since I mostly use it for the "slower" stuff....

now and again, when they pop a faster song in the set, I give it a go....and usually can pull it (reasonably) off....
