LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #27

anyone here running any kind of tube/overdrive pedal with their lakies? One thing I am looking for is a new DI, and thinking about getting something that can give me that tubey sound when I am not using my rig. I have a pedaltrain mini that I am building for a grab and go for gigs where I run direct.

I am thinking about a DHA-VT1-EQ but curious what else is out there. I wish the VT bass had a di, but that is a different topic. What are you using and how do you like it?

You can use the VT as a DI. At least...that is what they advertise.

Been helping my buddy shop for his first "decent" bass. (We snagged Markus' old Carvin/Peavey rig a while back). Anyways, we saw one of these at GC, and it has me drooling! I'd love it if I could afford to have Dan build me one, same LPBlue color, black pg, add a chrome br cover and SD Bassline pup, BEM fb would be sweet too.

Anybody else think this would be a HAWT addition to the Lakland product line??

Would be cool if you could get it! Just don't tell me it's gonna be a CS51P :D

You actually mean product line, like a new model? Personally I like the idea a lot but let's face it: with Sting at hand, Fender still aren't selling tons of '51s

So, I've had this beautiful 55-02D that I traded for a couple weeks back. Easily the best playing and put together Skyline I've owned out of 4 now. However, the tone is just not happening for me.

It has the LH3 system (not sure which version, but it is an '08 model 55). It came with a fresh set of Lakland strings on it (light gauge... usually play medium) that I decided to leave on for the time being as they were new. So, thinking that may be part of the issue as well. Hoping that slapping a set of my "go to" DR Hi Beams on it will help. Only other thing I can think of would be the midrange setting. Haven't really toyed with that yet, but curious as to what you guys have yours set at?

:help:

c

mine is bart pre lakland pups, I've chosen the barts' stock 500 Hz

This brings up a good little topic that hasn't been discussed in a while I don't think... What kind of settings does everyone usually play with on their Laklands?

For my 44-02:

Volume: 75-80% (like to leave a little room to boost if I need to)
Low: Boosted maybe 33% from flat
Mid: Boosted about 50% from flat
High: Flat
Blend: 50/50
Coil tap: Tapped favoring the neck-side of the humbucker. I'll occasionally tap the bridge-side for some slap-work or more modern sounding stuff. I hardly ever play it with both coils on.

for my ash/maple/bart pre/lh-3 pick ups,
I usually use the forward coil
pan @ mostly 9 sometimes 12 o' clock, occasionally 2 o'clock. Bass flat or @ 10 o'clock
mid @ 2 sometimes 4 o'clock
high @ 3 to 5 o'clock
I like to have a bit of vol at hand (like setting it @4-5 o'clock)

I remember using more often the rear coil with the all-barts setting

So let me get this straight...you spent time, and sleepless nights selling your JO5 to get the "GAS Master HB", and it's right there within your grasp, and you are thinking about going with a bass that you weren't even GASing for? I regret you inform you that this wins the very rare Mega-Totem of Shame!:D

:eyebrow:
:rollno:
:scowl:
:rollno:

firstly, I think that deserves the mega-totem of GAS fame
secondly, THIS isn't the Mega-Totem of Shame since it doesn't have these: :spit:
P.S. personally, I think Markus omitted those for decorative reasons. Like he thinks the curtain and the rug of the totem pole wouldn't match or something
