OK, just did a massive rehearsal with the DS Glaub and the 55-94... HOLY COW, the Dark Star is as big a P-Bass sound as I have ever heard... AWESOME!!!!
Now the 55-94 has a great sound, but I think it will be bulletproof with flats. Now, whee do I get a Lakland Flat "B" string? I have a set of fours and think I'm gonna go ahead and change em out.
Anybody want to trade a set of slightly used DR Silver Stars 45/125 for a set of flats?

It is kind of funny how the Chis look smooth and the DS raw, but their tonal qualities are somewhat reversed.

This is what I've been waiting to hear, my friend! The DS is something else, I'm glad you're digging it.

Awesome dude! Glad your diggin' them! That's a great set!

I've spent some more time with the Dunn, this time playing along with classic P bass recordings as well as some newer things. I spent some time trying to get a Pino tone going, and it was quite successful! Still need the flats to really pull it off of course. Played around with some older Might Boss Tones, which was quite fun also. Really digging this bass. It's also pretty light since I searched different dealers asking them to weight them...under 9 lbs. Right down my alley.

I'm really liking this bass more and more. The CAR finish is deep and rich. It's far more attractive in person, and the white pickguard looks great too, so I think I'll not worry about replacing it for now.

I still think I'd like to trade my White DJ5 for a LPB or perhaps a Black sparkle. Are those two finishes as good looking in person as the CAR Dunn is? I love the white pearl, but my DJ has that finish, so I think I'd like something else on the DJ5.

you sound quite happy with that bass!

there are different types of coatings...Lakland prefers acrylic....others prefer epoxy.....I am glad you got what you did.....that is truly a one of a kind - a fretless 55-94 a little (OK alot) less so!

NOT that I would trade mine mind you.....:bassist:

I'm also glad!!! Hoping to git 'er sooner! But with my best guess, she would make an awesome xmas present for me

NOT that you would trade for one like mine?! :eyebrow:
