LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #39

I wanted to let you all know that one of our TB brothers, "Phat Daddy", passed away on Feb 1. He was 34 years old and as much a Lakland fanatic as any of us. His 2 Laklands were his pride & joy. I wish I had some more in the way of details, but I haven't been able to connect with anyone yet who can give them to me. As soon as I know anything worth passing along I'll post again.

That is so tragic. He was so young! :atoz:

My thoughts are with his family.

Hey All,

First and foremost; SO sorry to hear about our departed brother of the low end...

I'm new to the boards, and didn't know him, but my thoughts are with his family, and any of you guys who knew him - such a shame. RIP Phat Daddy

In other, more positive, news; I am also new to LAKLAND OWNING :) Waiting on PayPal to do it's thing, and then my Skyline Glaub will be shipped to me :))

Bought from Steiny -via- TwoGeerGeeks -via- BuffordBass -via- MattyGbass {breath}

Super excited to get her - I'm going to put a regular nut back on her, and tune her back to standard...

also interested in a mint pg, and a bell cover -I wanna be cool like Roger Waters- any of you happen to have some?
If not, where shall I go about procuring them?

Thanks in advance, future brother-in-good-taste,

RE

Congratulations on the new bass! All Parts carries them, and they can also be found on eBay for a pretty good price...about 10 bucks or so.

NICE! Big Floyd fan here.... get the guard from Jeannie's, the cover from basspartsresource.com!

well Tery - at OUR age...young just looks...well.....YOUNG....and we look...well...OLD!

but we have MORE experience.....gotta look at the positive.

btw - how goes the "reading gig"?

Aint that the ever-loving truth. I do feel better now that I know it is her brother... 16 months apart, well I said I thought they looked the same age... but I get worried when I read without my bi-focals, LOL...
Speaking of reading, the Dallas Praise Jazz Orchestra had a rehearsal a week ago. Luckily the director helped me with a set of guitar chord charts to cheat by, but one song he said even I could play... it was all half and whole notes. I did it, but it's going to be a process!!!~ a fun process, but a process non the less.

I think I have a cow catcher around somewhere. PM me...

That is a sweet Glaub, you're gonna love it!!!!!

The JOCS has landed!:) What a beauty, and it plays so smooth so far. Gonna fire up the V-4B shortly!

So envious... but more happy for you than anything ;).

I want your impressions on the CS pups... are they fatter than a standard Lakland jazz? Will I need the series switch?

I know that they are fuller and richer, but I want a little more humbucker-like fatness, more bottom than a typical jazz.

Just a random note- as most of you know, the BG5 is my first P, and I absolutely LOVE IT.... So much that I need another one, lol. Anyway, last night was my first time attempting slap on a P, and it was actually pretty cool. Just in case there was ever a doubt, I absolutely LOVE my Lakies ;)

Dude, did some snooping... WOW! That's some sparkle you got goin there!!! :0 Nice!

Jeannie's didn't seem to have a 'mint' - says they can make white...
any body have experience with what their white looks like?
{Again, going for the old, effed up nitro - look...}

maybe know anyone that specializes in relics?

Bufford's looking to see if he's got a cover for me - but if not - is it the same size as a FenderP cover?

Thanks fellas!

Oh, should I ask for a number? :)

Personally...I like the sound of a slapped P more that a Jazz.
