Very interesting, Jim. I'd always heard they all did. Maybe they stopped a little earlier. Mine's #80.

I can't remember the exact serial number of the bass I saw, but I know it was lower than 80. The first 100 also don't have 'JO' as part of the serial number, right?

Ha! Full on hollowbody. My son's middle name is Tobias...after the bass I was playin' at the time. Liked the name...

that may have been a huge impact on his child life. Well it could've been worse. I think I told you before- my friend's middle name is Skyler, short for 'Skywalker', that is.

My 55-02D showed up yesterday and after playing her for a couple of hours last night I'm totally blown away by what a great bass she is. Having only played Lakie's in music stores before buying one used from Dub56 here on TalkBass I didn't fully appreciate what nice basses they are. Yes, the neck felt great and it was versatile but until I got her in my hands at home with my amp without the sales staff hovering only then did the real beauty of the bass come through. I couldn't be happier.

I'm pretty stunned all the way around. I can't see Gassing for anything else at this point...except maybe a Duck Dunn!

I remember my first Lakland. It was on older -02D and it blew me away as well. I still have that feeling everytime I pick one up, which is often because I don't own anything other 5 string Lakies...

As far as a Duck Dunn, you apparently like the fivers, so what about a LOG bass?
