Welcome to TB and the LOG! The DJ is very often a gateway bass to a Lakland addiction.(It was for me.)
Thanks! I think that, as a poor student (significantly poorer since getting the DJ, ahem...) I'll get better on bass and get a regular paid gig as opposed to church every week before I can justify another one.
On another topic, is it just me or do the majority of Lakland owners run their basses through Eden rigs? It just seems that the majority of pics of Eden rigs feature a Lakland somewhere...
Can't afford an eden rig either. Got an Eden Nemesis 8-inch practice combo though. Not a problem, I just go direct in church. So I suppose you could say my rig is a 6000-watt, 2x15, 8x12 monster.
Anyhoo, ta for the advice on getting a number.

She started out as a 55-01. I put in an LH-3 setup maybe a year ago... year and a half maybe?
Carl put the 2nd 'bucker in there and the ramp. Be we are not done. Tomorrow the cool thing gets built and put on.
Then after my next tour, he'll shave the neck and put in a Roland MIDI pickup.
Carl is the shizzle.
EDIT: Yes you see 3 switches. 2 are for the 'buckers. One switches in the Bartolini buffer. and that switch is also a mute.

Sorry for being so uninformed lately, but, is Carl back with Lakland then? Didn't I read somewhere on this forum that he left to pursue other "avenues"? Also, for those who are 'in the know'..... how is Dan doing, and how has the business transition to the new owners been?

Carl is not with Lakland, but its not something to be concerned of.
He is doing repairs, mods, and building his own instruments. I am going to have him build me a bass or two.
Dan is doing good. Saw him yesterday and today. They're distributors for Harmony now..I forgot to try out the Hramony bass they have. A hollow body I think.

He showed me a PAvel nech that he shaved down to SUPER thin..thinner than jazz basses. He's going to do that to my baby.
Oh yeah its ash. The body, being and import is slightly heavier than say a US body, but the tone is there.
At first I thought I was lucky..that my 55-01 had a nice sunburst. But you know..just about all the 55-01 bursts I have seen are nice. I like the red being a nice thin line..so its not a "true" 3 tone burst, but its not 2 tone tomacco ether...

True--although he also still does some work for Lakland (warranty repairs and R&D).

By the by, am I wrong in thinking that the upper horn is a slightly different shape than on the Korean 'lines? It seems more... anaemic, somehow.
EDIT: Okay I plugged it in. I thought I was catching radio signals, but then I realised the jack wasn't in all the way. I gave it a good 'click' and the issue seemed to go away. I may get the pup cavities shielded anyway. I had to do it on the previous one to stop it from howling, and it's given me an appreciation for a well-shielded axe.
It really needs a setup something fierce, but that's not a dig agains Lakland, that's just life when it's New Bass Day. I'll try to get to my luthier sometime in the next couple weeks, so I can get this baby working for her keep.

Yeah, it's a big improvement over the old one. The amber's a little less rich, like there's more yellow. Not *quite* as pretty a hue, but still very nice. And I really like the quilty top.
Oh, and I've been using a Fender P sontage for several months now, to the neck feels slim as h377. I'd forgotten how much I like that neck...

...2 GB Shuttle 6s powering 1 Berg each (signal splitter on my pedalboard). Three 15s, three 10s, one 6 and enough power to never need to turn above about 40%..... unless somebody pisses me off and I have to let 'em know who's in control of the IMPORTANT frequencies LOL.
YEAH!! Now it's a 24 fret bass.... weird... but for a tapper, it'd work. Interesting!!

Off topic here, but I have to ask.... how do you like the NV425 compared to the 215? I've enjoyed my NV425 for about 6 years now, and would love to add a 215. When I bought mine, I could not make up my mind on which one to get. I basically flipped a coin and ended up with the 425, but i've always drooled over those 215's.
