I like it! (And dang, Markus posted the design how many months ago? I'm sure most of you saw it then.) I'll admit, I liked the original DJ more, but I thought they changed it in a fairly tasteful way.

I didn't like it then, either, but figured that seeing it in real life might make it better.

4 days ago was Labor Day Friday... folks are just back to work today most likely after potentially having Monday off. I realize views on this 'holiday' differ, but understand that it does affect when your call may get returned. My calls always get returned within the same day during NORMAL hours/business days. They may have to research a bit as well to turn up the exact model info for you. Give it time, grasshopper.

I tried calling Lakland and haven't heard back, 3 messages later In fairness someone did call me today regarding a message I left 4 days ago, but I couldn't talk, I was rounding. Told him I'd call back in 20 minutes, but alas no response. Anyway, excited about the bass, anyone with info?

Well, I hear that... I had to work on Monday as well. I was fortunate to have a festival gig all weekend, beginning on Friday, that got me out of the day gig. I fear I'd have been working all weekend otherwise myself. No rest for the laborers on Labor Day for sure.

I'm going to be part of this club on Friday! I'm really excited, I've only ever played the Skyline 4-94, and L O V E D it. Now I have a ''limited run'' model (apparently) from 1999. Actually, does anyone have any info on it?

Congrats!!! That's a gorgeous bass. I'm usually not too big on gold hardware, but it fits that bass perfectly.

I can tell you that I've seen one of these in person before and they are beautiful! These were the only Laklands ever to have gold hardware, to my knowledge. If you know the serial number, you can look it up here to confirm the year of manufacture.

Oh, and if you loved the Skyline, you'll probably go nuts over the US one! Best necks in existence, in my opinion.

Since saddles are adjusted forward and back for intonation, the best way to determine a bass' scale length is to measure from the nut to the 12th fret and multiply times 2. Lakland 5ers will measure 17.5" which is correct for 35" scale.

just wondering, is a 55-02 really a true 35" if you string thru bridge?
my 55-02 length looks same visually next to my 4 string jazz bass.
and since normal 34" strings work via bridge but not via body, i was thinking, is it only truely 35" if you choose to string thru the body?

All that matters is the measurement from where the ring rests on the saddle to where the string goes through the nut. After the saddle, it can run all the way around the bass again and the scale length wouldn't change. The through-body really only comes into play when buying strings. Through-body ones MUST be Extra Long Scale (or DR's.).

And yes. It really is 35". On my 55-02, it is actually a little over that.

Wow, I could really spend an entire day looking at these Lakland threads...

Anyway, spoke with Mr. Pirruccello today, extremely nice guy (which seems to be a theme with Laklanders). Turns out the bass I just acquired was made for a former Lakland employee. It was part of a limited run of 10, and of those only a few were emerald green.

I can't wait to hear how it sounds connected to my rig. It's loaded with the ol' Barts and Bart preamp...if I'm not too thrilled with it there's always the LH3 system I can try. Honestly though I'm expecting big things. Mr. Pirruccello described the Barts as mid-scooped, which is in contrast with most of what I'm reading saying they are mid-heavy. Guess I'll find out in a few days
