LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #47

"Crush to Randy"? That's not very nice!:D

Randy Orange does indeed sound like a porn star name.
I think we should start a poll to see if we can get Markus to rename his JO from Orange Crush to Randy!

BTW, was watching a talkshow last night (Rob Brydon's new show for ppl in the UK) which finished with Tom Jones singing a new song.

Bass player in the backround was holding a Lakland!
But it was a bit unusual. I'll describe it and see what you think.

Joe Osborne or Bob Glaub body, I'm not sure. Think it was JO.
USA model.
4 string.
Sonic Blue with a white pearl pickguard (how 90's pop is that?!)
P/J pickup configuration.

It sounded absolutely killer!

Just thought you guys would like to know of a rare Lakland sighting in the wild!
BTW, if you want to see it, the program's at:

and Tom Jones starts singing at 24:58

"Not available in your area":( I'm sure it sounds and looks great, though.

I've been away from Talkbass for about 6 months and I believe that I missed something when it comes to Lakland Operations. Can someone give me the readers digest version of what happened? Is Dan no longer there etc. Thanks in advance.

Yup...Dan sold to John and Bo who owned Hansen and have been part of lakland for a very long time. Company is in GREAT hands and in my opinion, is still making the same great product, but also really pushing new product more than ever before. Dan will be missed, but I really think the new crew is very capable of actually improving lakland and making it better than it ever was. Again, just my opinion. :bassist:

I anticipated that and tried for a screen grab ... I think though, TBH, the description tells you just as much.

I'm gonna have to +1 this. Well stated!

Awesome! Thanks for the info and I can't help but continue to love this company.

I will also post this in the WTB section on TB, I can't post it on the LOG site until tonight because I am blocked at work.

I have an audition for a 70s R&B dance band on October 9, so I find myself in quick need of a P-bass. I would prefer Skyline over USA, to keep the cost more reasonable but will consider any/all 4 string Glaubs and Dunns, and whatever number they have now for those basses. I don't really do the 5-string thing.

If trades are your thing, I have two basses I woud consider trading for. One is a Tobias Growler 4 that I have in the TB classifieds section (includes sound clips). The other is an EBMM Sterling 4 in very rare Autumn Redburst color that I can provide pics if any interest.

I spent some time last night with my Dual J 55, and I have to say, this thing is a monster! Incredibly light and tone to die for. I never thought that I would be into stainless strings, but the lakland stainless on here are killer. Perfectly broken in. I am in J heaven. Just thought I would share! The Bart pre/boost in it does a great job.

+1

After talking to John on the phone, I'm convinced things will be just fine...

And we're finally getting a LOG bass out of the deal (yea!), and who know what other perks we'll be privy to...
