LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #47

Status
Not open for further replies.
Just pull an Adam Clayton, and swap every song;)

...for NO reason!

Man, that guy annoys me...love U2, but that guy puts no effort in...

Worst experience you can ever have at home is playing along to a U2 cd and not being able to figure out the bassline - that's when you know you're out of practice!

And thanks to Basspraiser for quoting EVERY SINGLE ONE of my posts so far! Makes me feel all warm cosy inside...

And for whoever's got the selection of Laklands and the Bergantino/Mesa full-stack-

What do you do for a living, and can I have your job?

No, seriously...:hiding:

Enjoy your lazy sunday, Lakland addicts!

Cheers, SoundSupport

+1

Between Bono's ego, Edge utilizing enough delay and other time distortion to warp time itself, Adam Clayton's droll basslines, it's tough to find anything to like about U2. Before you flame me, it's my opinion; like A$%#%*(^ we all got one and they all stink.

I read an interview where Bono or Edge were talking about having little training or experience and that's where they got their sound... inexperience. I don't know if it was an excuse or bragging. Well, if it was Bono it was certainly bragging.

I concur. But 'Achtung Baby' is still one of the all-time great albums.:hiding:

BTW, just saw the JS in your signature. May we have a larger picture of it, so that all the other boys and girls can enjoy the rare beauty of a Lakland Jerry Scheff?!

Here's a helping hand...

Smokin' Toasters' JS5 Bass photos

This Inca Silver Jerry Scheff Bass is awesome and plays like a dream. I love my CAR/ELF JS4 version as well. There's simply something about the placement of the Neck pup on the Jerry Scheff models...

Yeagh, I dunno...

There are definitely more envelope-pushing players out there, with better chops, and all...but Clayton does what the song needs. I hear too many players who have to be signature guys. He and Mullen form a rhythm section that grooves.

To me that's the most important job a bassist has. And he does it with a Lakland...

Love that Inca Silver, first I really saw it other than on the lakland mockup, and I am thinking of one of the limited edition Skylines in that color. schweet.

I'd say that was much more than a wave.
That was more like a "two week catchup all at once post fest". ;)

well.....sort of......you should have seen the "waves" like 6 months ago....I would take up 2-3 pages myself....and that was only after a few days of posts to comment on!

Hi Basspraiser,

Those are lh3's wich are chi-sonics , same internal pickup. I should post some sound clips soon. I also need to post an updated piccie. CHanged the preamp..not sure which I like better...NS3TMB or LH-3.

Are they Hanson dual coils of CHIs? they have different innerds....nice either way!!!

Now *that* was a Doude Wave...

the Doude bows!

Well, it appears you are back in FULL STRENGTH!!!

Glad you made it back from your travels safely.

thanks Gordon...good to be back!!!! FULL STREGTH!

Just pull an Adam Clayton, and swap every song;)

Would LOVE to do that!

I am not sure the rest of the band would appreciate that! besides, we will be playing many of the songs "back to back" with little time to change basses

I am trying to recruit a fellow LOGger to be my "bass tech" for the evening.....he he!!!

You are welcome! anything to make you feel warm and cozy!

he he!!!

Been a busy Sunday and will be a busy few weeks.....but cheers to all of my lakie friends....

Hey: Phil, make sure to hang out at: Link Removed some more as well.....this is only HALF the fun!

I agree....I actually like his playing style (to an extent)...nice and basic...if he were "all over the place" teh songs would get muddy and not listenable (IMHO)....I hear he has quite an ego though....There are plenty of other "love/hate AC" threads out there.....let's let them stay "there" and not here....

I thought he left lakland?..

( I can hear shouts of BURN'EM!!! fall over the lakland collective ):hiding:

He did leave Lakland....and I am not sure Dan was too worried about it either...there were some trials and issues with certain dune buggy bass that inspired Randy to make Radioactive oatmeal......Isn't AC playing Warwick now? to bad for him!

sweet! JP always has a smilae on his face! great guy...if you ever get a chance to meet him or his brother Bo....do it! they are really nice and aer taking over nicely for Dan...who is another GREAT guy!

Lets hope that will be there for the GTG in October!

Ya know, that lower horn doesn't look half bad. I still don't care for the gold hardware, but I dig the pg. If only it were green, or blue, or even yellow. Maybe even a light pink, but that's PINK.

JP said (on the LOG sitre) that he WOULD do it in other colors.....just ask! I like the gold hardware!

Love that Inca Silver, first I really saw it other than on the lakland mockup, and I am thinking of one of the limited edition Skylines in that color. schweet.

Inca Silver is a VERY nice color...like most lakie colors..pics do not do it justice...it has a slight metal flake to it that is awesome!

I want an Inca Scheff someday (amounst 30+ other "must have" lakies!)

I read an interview where Bono or Edge were talking about having little training or experience and that's where they got their sound... inexperience. I don't know if it was an excuse or bragging. Well, if it was Bono it was certainly bragging.

I kind of find that they were a better band before they got good on their instruments. They definitely sounded hungrier; more relevant, somehow. I think it all started to change just after teh Joshua Tree, which is my fave U2 disc. I also really like Achtung Baby because it was the best balance of early U2's hungry edge and their more mature, fuller sound. Since two of the members went to NYC to take guitar and bass lessons, I find the parts are more intricate, but the fact is that U2 sounds like they're just phoning it in these days.

Welp, looks like the HB is gonna go back to the shop for a checkup. Brian sent me over the wiring diagram, and after taking a good long look, I couldn't really find anything out of place on it that would explain my problem with the bridge pickup in single-coil mode.

Guess my 4402 will be happy to be getting the majority of my attention again :)
