Hi LOG members, just wanted to share this... I did a trade deal for this baby and expect delivery on Friday.

5501 Deluxe... I think it's got one of the best quilts I've seen, not normally a fan of Sunburst, especially Cherryburst but this one just looks great... Like flowing hot lava!

Awesome Quilting... You will love the Cherry Burst more in person. Cameras do not do that color justice. I had a 55-02D CherryBurst/Maple Board - was a very nice looking/sounding bass!

Congrats!

Wow, super sweet! I'm GASsing so hard for one of those!...

DeWalt cordless drills.:D

Also, given that we're discussing the beautiful Jerry Scheff basses, I saw an interview with Dan Lakin and Carl Pedigo (it's up on youtube I believe) where Dan says that they'll still make the US Jerry Scheff as a special order. Is that still the case since John took over?

Markus, mightn't it be worth putting that up on the website? Not as a banner headline, I mean, obviously, but just so's to get the word out?

Single biggest regret of my bass buying career is not chasing a Jerry Scheff when they were still avaliable as a skyline.

Problem was, a 21 year old spending £1,000 on a bass guitar is a big deal, so even though I liked the soundclips on the website I read a couple of reviews where the Scheff was slated for having a sound that was too distinctive and didn't always sit well in the mix. Guess I should have joined Talkbass earlier - then I could have met Smokin'Toaster and got the opinion of someone who knows and loves the Scheff!

In the end, I bought a Darryl Jones skyline. I don't regret buying that bass at all - mine was one of the last (who knows? perhaps THE last!) built in Korea, and shortly after production of the Jones stopped entirely, but I've since formed the opinion that you should buy the models that make a company stand out, i.e. in Lakland's case, the Decade, the Scheff, and pretty much anything chi-soniced.

Anyhoo...
*whispers* the sound is in your fingers...:hiding:

Cheers,
SoundSupport

Tony O. (Smokin' Toaster) got me hooked on them as well.

Have we all met somewhere before?

Here are the two members of my Lakland family (ignore the unkept yard). The US Bob Glaub was one that Gordon was kind enough to sell back to me after I realized I made the biggest mistake of my bass playing career. Love that bass even more now.

I'm thinking of having some ChiSonics dropped into the Skyline Joe Osborn. I played MattyG's USJOCS recently and was blown away. Would anyone like to chime in with their opinion on this popular mod? Also, cost? I'm thinking the thin ChiSonics would look nice.

Hey, guys. Another quick question. On the LH3, there are 15 possible combinations of the dip switches. Lakland has only posted around 9 I think. Does anyone know what the other combinations might provide if any? I'm looking for something between the 275 and 450 setting. Thanks!
