Hey, guys. Another quick question. On the LH3, there are 15 possible combinations of the dip switches. Lakland has only posted around 9 I think. Does anyone know what the other combinations might provide if any? I'm looking for something between the 275 and 450 setting. Thanks!

I'd be interested to know the answer too ... I thought there was info on all 16 combinations ... somewhere.

Markus, mightn't it be worth putting that up on the website? Not as a banner headline, I mean, obviously, but just so's to get the word out?

Single biggest regret of my bass buying career is not chasing a Jerry Scheff when they were still avaliable as a skyline.

Problem was, a 21 year old spending £1,000 on a bass guitar is a big deal, so even though I liked the soundclips on the website I read a couple of reviews where the Scheff was slated for having a sound that was too distinctive and didn't always sit well in the mix. Guess I should have joined Talkbass earlier - then I could have met Smokin'Toaster and got the opinion of someone who knows and loves the Scheff!

In the end, I bought a Darryl Jones skyline. I don't regret buying that bass at all - mine was one of the last (who knows? perhaps THE last!) built in Korea, and shortly after production of the Jones stopped entirely, but I've since formed the opinion that you should buy the models that make a company stand out, i.e. in Lakland's case, the Decade, the Scheff, and pretty much anything chi-soniced.

Anyhoo...

SS, you might want to check out Gordon's thread on the LOG board where we discuss the Scheff. I posted a link where Ed Friedland talks about his Scheff and includes a soundclip.:)

THAT bass is just so hawt! inca silver seems to be THE color (next to trans blue quilt) for that bass.....

It's always at gigs, and usually I bring one of my other basses (MIM P bass 4 string with Darkstar, 5501, or maybe my '77 Ibanez Challanger Jazz copy with DiMarzio stacked humbuckers and a J-retro). If I start playing one of those other basses, after a couple of songs our drummer asks "Where's the Scheff?" It has a "so in-the-mix" presence that when I play something else it's absence it noticable.

I'm convinced that at some point in the future, the bass-playing masses will look at these basses and ask the same question I've been asking for 4 years: Why weren't these basses more popular?

My theories / reasons people may have for not playing them (none of which are good IMHO):

1) The pickups aren't P, J, or soapbars
2) Lipstick tubes? must be a cheap Danlectro knock off
3) Jaco / Geddy / Jack Bruce / Victor / (insert your favorite god of bass here) dosen't (didn't) play one.
4) Not sure if I will look cool playing it
5) Dude, Who is Jerry Scheff anyway?
6) Might not be good for metal

None of the reasons above are intended to be disrespectful or break any rules - I'm trying to be the kinder gentler Smokin' Toaster and avoid confrontations.

If you can find one for sale, jump on it. If you don't, let me know. I wouldn't mind having a second one.

This is my last day in Italy....I was in Florence earlier in the week and went into a little restaurant fir dinner and there was a little jazz group playing. Dude was playing a 44-02. I talked to him, but he didn't understand one flippin word I said. Fortunately for me, I was wearing my LOG T-Shirt so I showed him and he was impressed...he rambled a lot of stuff that I didnt understand, I bought him a glass of wine, then left.....but yeah....it was cool.

HEY!! Where'd my knobs go? That's ok... I'm a sucker for old jazz-style knobs... glad I'm getting 'em back when the "Golden Child" arrives on the 22nd. :hyper::bassist:
