LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #48

So I was browsing the Lakland website and and saw a 5 string skyline p-bass (55-64 Vintage P) listed there. However, after googling it I can't seem to find anyone actually selling these, or a price listed. Anyone know if they are actually available yet, and if so from whom and for how much? Thanks, and happy New Years!
Those are brand new, they're coming into the Lakland shop this month or next. You can also get the limited edition Lakland Owners Group version of it at Bass Club Chicago; those should be in this month. (And Mark is a good guy to deal with.) You can see pics of the prototypes on the previous page, post 547.
Can I ask what those are going for, and where you've ordered from? Feel free to PM me if it's not public knowledge or something...

You've probably heard that the Lakland Skyline P5 2010 LOG Bass will be delivering sometime in January 2011. Bass Club Chicago was happy & honored to purchase the remaining unsold P5's, and will make them available as soon as they deliver. Here are the details...
* $1150 Sale Price
* $250 deposit will reserve the bass until they arrive
* Hardshell or Gigbag available for an additional charge
* Shipping will be a standard $30 to anywhere in the US via Fedex Ground.
There are currently 10 or so of these still available, and choice of fretboard (maple or rosewood), and pickups (Nordstrand or Chi-Sonic) are also still available.
We will be running an ad in the March issue of Bass Player magazine, so make sure you reserve your LOG bass as soon as possible.

As for the LOG bass (butterscotch with blocked necks) 30 is IT...Lakland says there will NOT be another batch ordered....and each will come with a certificate of authenticity with JPs signature on it!
$1150? that is an awesome price! that is about $150 LESS than a MIA Fender P5...AND you get a choice of necks AND 1 of 3 (yes 3!) different pickups (does Fender offer that?)

Hey all! Not LOG bass related but I'm expecting a new Skyline LE Teal Green Bob Glaub from Bass Central by Wednesday...I'm psyched and pics will follow. Really curious to see how the Hansons sound as they are wound a bit hotter (11k?) compared to the Fralins I'm used to in my Fender. I hate waiting for UPS!

Absolutely, one of my favorite pickups. Make the P bass come alive to my ears.

If I wanted to get my US glaub I bought a while back checked out from headstock to buttons, and I didn't want to ship it to Chicago, any suggestions in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? I usually go to Charley's in Dallas, but Brian at Lakland recommended Bass Emporium in Austin, but that's a nice three+ hour drive.
The other thing I want to get resolved is what looks like a small split in the rosewood fretboard at the 16th fret right beneath the D string. One side is slightly higher than the other. It doesn't affect the playability of the bass, but I would like to get it looked at...

The Hanson neos that come stock in the Glaub are a bit different; less vintage, more punchy and aggressive. I imagine they kill in a mix. And that teal green finish is really, really sweet (IMO).
I have no firsthand knowledge, but you ought to shoot a PM to Terry (buffordbass). He lives in the area and is a great guy who'll help you out if he can.

The pickup you are referring to, this is just the standard Lakland P pickup, correct? That is what I had in my Dunn, and I would agree that it was a bit more aggressive sounding than an old vintage Precision bass, but still had that chunky mid profile. Do you know how the Nordy compares? I've heard it more of a vintage thing which I'm interested in trying. I wouldn't mind if it sounded just like the Hanson pickup myself though.
