Hi guys. Does anyone have experience wth replacing the pickups of the 55-94 with Nordy's or something else?

Same question applies to the preamp.

I love my bass but not digging the Bart pre and pups as much as I thought and was looking for some suggestions from real life experiences.

Sorry to hear you're not diggin' those old Barts (I lurv mine!). Maybe someone will swap for an LH-3 setup, or you could buy it from Lakland.

Nordies do sound good though! They should drop in, no?

Hi Neil. Looks like you're keeping your bass then, that's cool!

I have tried three sets, the original Barts, the 'new' Barts and the Lakland LH-3 System. They all sound different. I like both the original Barts and the LH-3. Not so much the Barts from around 2000 to around 2005.

I would recommend you try the LH-3. It should be easy to find a 55-02 with it that you can try.

Regardless of which electronics you decide to go with, I recommend that you don't sell the original set. The 'old' 55-94s are sought after mainly because of the 'old' Barts. So if you ever want to sell your bass, the buyer has the option of installing the original system back.

The most incredible thing about TB and the people on it is the incredible help one can get. It's amazing. Thank you Marcel and Greg for your valuable info.

Marcel I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I really want to keep the bass because it feels and plays unbelievably. Really like butta!!! The store I bought my bass from has also has a new 55-94 so I plan to go back there and compare the original Bart with the Hanson Pups/ LH-3. Hopefully I can do that this weekend. And thanks regarding your info about keeping the original pre & pups.

Greg I haven't seen the LH-3 demo so thanks for turning me on to that. I"ll be checking it out shortly.

It took me a minute to get used to the old Barts.

My initial reaction was meh.

After a few weeks I feel in love with them...

What'd you think of the original Bart's and the LH3? I've heard they're more similar than different but was wondering if you could elaborate.
